Introduction¶
In DeepSeek Harness (DSH) use cases, adjusting request retry policies (such as retry mode and maximum retry count) and timeout parameters (such as connection timeout and streaming idle timeout) for different LLM providers is a common requirement. Manually modifying configuration files or making changes through code can be cumbersome. The dsh-llm-retry-settings plugin provides a visual settings page that integrates directly with DSH’s public settings interface for managing these parameters.
Plugin Overview¶
This is a client-side plugin maintained by Yiklek. It adds a new settings page that allows users to view and edit request retry policies and timeout fields for each LLM provider.
Core Features¶
The plugin mainly provides the following capabilities:
- Retry Policy Configuration: Supports configuring the retry mode (
mode:normaloralways) and the maximum number of retries (maxRetries). - Timeout Field Management: Supports configuring timeout values in milliseconds, including the general request timeout (
timeoutMs), WebSocket connection timeout (websocketConnectTimeoutMs), and streaming transport idle timeout (streamIdleTimeoutMs). - Immediate Effect: All write operations are performed via
settings.mutate; after changes are saved, there is no need to restart the DSH process, and the settings take effect on the next model request. - Architecture Design: A pure client-side plugin with no host-side logic; the GUI interacts with the system through the loopback API gateway, using the same interaction model as the built-in model settings page.
Installation and Enablement¶
You can complete loading using the official installation command without manually editing configuration files:
npx @deepseek-ai/dsh plugin --profile web add github:Yiklek/dsh-llm-retry-settings
After installation, the plugin is automatically added to dsh.profile.bundles and its patch layer is loaded.
Typical Usage¶
The plugin uses the llm-retry executor, but the specific policy and timeout configuration is located in each provider’s settings namespace (such as llm-pi-ai and llm-deepseek).
Timeout fields are automatically discovered from the settings schema in each namespace; for known built-in providers, the system uses a known fallback mapping table.
In the DSH interface, locate the settings page for the corresponding LLM provider to view and modify the parameters above.
Use Cases and Notes¶
- Use Cases: Developers who need to directly adjust LLM connection retry and timeout behavior in the DSH interface.
- Notes: This plugin is a standard DSH bundle plugin and depends on the
dsh.bundle.patchdeclared inpackage.jsonpointing tocordis.patch.yml. - Risk Notice: The plugin is open-sourced under the MIT License. It is recommended to review the source code before installation to ensure safety.
Conclusion¶
This plugin simplifies the configuration workflow for LLM connection parameters. For more details and source code, see the GitHub repository.
