DeepSeek Harness (DSH) extends functionality through plugins. The dsh-codex-image-bridge plugin adds visual capabilities to AI assistants: in addition to reading and writing text, it can generate images, edit images, and understand images.

Core Capabilities

Capability Description
Generate images Generate PNG images using natural language prompts (character art, icons, concept art, game assets, etc.).
Edit images Use an existing image as the base, keep the subject or style unchanged, modify only specified details, and produce variants.
Understand images Let the model “see” a local image, describe its content, check rendering issues, or answer questions about visual details.
Service check Check the login status of the image service and confirm whether generation can start.

Installation

Prerequisites: the image service scripts are available (skillDir points to a directory containing scripts/), and the service login is valid (node <skillDir>/scripts/cli.mjs auth can return account).

Installation command:

dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-codex-image-bridge

Configuration

The plugin supports the following configuration fields (located in the profile’s cordis.patch.yml):

Field Description
skillDir Local scripts directory (default ~/.claude/skills/codex-image-bridge).
outputDir Output directory for generated images (default <skillDir>/outputs).
threadModel Codex image generation thread model (default gpt-5.5).
timeoutMs Timeout for a single image generation or editing turn (default 120000).
command Codex CLI command (default codex).
sandbox Codex thread sandbox configuration (default danger-full-access).
acceptToolImages Diagnostic configuration (default false).
visionModel Model used to describe images (default gpt-5.5).
visionTimeoutMs Timeout for image description (default 180000).

Usage and Behavior

  • Output mode: Generated or edited images are displayed directly in the conversation result and saved as local files.
  • Security mechanism: Does not read or print local token files; when tokenPresent=false, the plugin does not block generation; when codex.source is non-native, it explicitly reports the status instead of pretending to succeed.
