The native top bar of the DeepSeek Harness (DSH) Web GUI only displays the session title, while the entry points for switching workspaces and sessions are located in the left sidebar. When the sidebar is collapsed, switching requires extra clicks. The dsh-better-session-title plugin moves this entry point to the top bar, implementing it as a two-level “Workspace / Session” breadcrumb for more direct switching.
Plugin Positioning¶
This plugin is a client-side UI enhancement for DeepSeek Harness. It does not introduce new capabilities or modify system source code; it only refactors the top bar display logic through a configuration patch layer. The plugin is maintained by community developers and licensed under the MIT License.
Installation¶
Install it into the Web GUI profile using the dsh plugin command. After installation, the package is automatically linked and appended to dsh.profile.bundles.
dsh plugin --profile web add github:xinspark/dsh-better-session-title#v1.0.0
After installation, start the Web UI (dsh web or dsh --profile web). The uninstall command is:
dsh plugin --profile web remove dsh-better-session-title
Core Features¶
- Two-level breadcrumb: The left side of the top bar displays a two-level “Workspace / Session” hierarchy, with dropdown lists expanding from each side. If space is insufficient, it automatically collapses into icons, which remain available on hover or click.
- Workspace dropdown: Shows all workspaces and their session counts. Supports adding a workspace (native directory selector), renaming, and deleting workspaces.
- Session dropdown: Shows all sessions in the current workspace and their relative update times. Supports creating a new session, renaming, branching, and archiving.
- Native-consistent interaction: The dropdown menu style replicates the native
Menu, with consistent row height, corner radius, shadow, and other details. Actions such as renaming and deleting use native modals and buttons, with support for input-method composition keys to prevent accidental triggers. - Consistent lifecycle: The “More” menu has the same lifecycle as the dropdown list; when the dropdown closes, the menu closes automatically and does not leave behind isolated menus.
- Bilingual support: Built-in Chinese and English dictionaries, taking effect in real time according to DSH language settings.
Usage¶
- Switch workspace: Click the “Workspace” breadcrumb on the left side of the top bar to open the workspace list and switch.
- Switch session: Click the “Session” breadcrumb on the right side of the top bar to open the session list and switch.
- Inline actions: Hover over a list row and click the “More” button at the end of the row to perform actions such as renaming, branching, or archiving.
- Close dropdown: Selecting a row switches immediately; click blank space or press
Escto close the dropdown list.
Notes¶
- Conflict warning: This plugin conflicts with the
dsh-basic-right-sidebarplugin; avoid installing both. Ifdsh-basic-right-sidebaris already installed, disable its breadcrumb feature in its settings and keep only the top bar breadcrumb from this plugin. - Platform support: The plugin is developed in pure JavaScript with no native dependencies and supports DSH Web GUI on Windows · macOS · Linux.
- Unofficial product: This is a community plugin and is not an official DeepSeek product.
Summary¶
dsh-better-session-title focuses on optimizing the session management interaction in the DSH Web GUI. Through the top bar breadcrumb and dropdown menus, it solves the cumbersome switching problem when the sidebar is collapsed and provides an operating experience consistent with the native style.
