Preface

In the DeepSeek Harness (DSH) Web interface, when an agent initiates a question requiring ask_user or plan approval, the question panel directly occupies a large area at the bottom of the chat box. This compresses the vertical space available for the conversation history and affects the operational experience.

The townrain/dsh-question-panel-collapse plugin solves this problem. By adding a collapse button inside the question panel header, it shrinks the panel into a compact small bar and frees up space in the conversation area.

Plugin Information

  • Plugin Name: townrain/dsh-question-panel-collapse
  • Maintainer: Townrain
  • License: MIT
  • Core Value: Collapses the question panel into a compact bar, and preserves unsubmitted draft content when expanded.

Core Features

  • Collapse (⌄): Click the chevron icon on the left side of the panel header to shrink the panel into a compact bar. In this state, the question title is retained in the upper-left corner (13px single-line ellipsis), while the Cancel button and chevron button are retained on the right side.
  • Expand (⌃): Click the chevron button inside the collapsed bar to restore the panel to its full content (question, options, and submission area). Collapsing only hides the content area via CSS; the panel component and draft state always remain alive in the composer chain and are restored exactly as they were after expansion.
  • State Persistence: The collapse state is automatically saved to localStorage. After refreshing the page or switching workspaces, the collapse state is preserved.
  • Coverage: Supports both QuestionFlow (multiple-choice / fill-in-the-blank) and PlanReviewPanel (plan approval) panel forms.
  • Language Support: Chinese/English bilingual tooltips, following the DSH locale service.
  • Pure Front-End Implementation: No host commands, no LLM calls, and no session-log entries; it only modifies the front-end display logic.

Installation and Activation

Add the plugin using the official installation command:

dsh plugin --profile web add ./dsh-question-panel-collapse

Alternatively, install it via GitHub:

dsh plugin --profile web add "github:Townrain/dsh-question-panel-collapse#main"

After installation is complete, restart DSH Web. The next time the agent asks a question, a chevron button will appear to the left of the “Cancel” button in the upper-right corner of the panel.

Typical Usage

  1. Collapse the panel: Click the chevron icon on the left side of the question panel header to collapse the panel into a compact bar.
  2. Expand the panel: Click the chevron button inside the collapsed bar to restore the full panel content. Any previously entered response draft is preserved exactly as it was.
  3. Retain state: After refreshing the page or switching workspaces, the collapse state is automatically restored.

Applicable Scenarios and Notes

  • Applicable Scenario: Suitable for developers who need to keep the conversation history visible while responding to agent questions.
  • Technical Dependency: The plugin has a hard dependency on inject = ['slots', 'locale']. Ensure that the official harness client services are available.
  • Safety Note: This plugin is a pure front-end implementation with no backend interactions. It is recommended to review the source code and license (MIT) before installation.

Conclusion

By introducing a simple collapsing interaction, this plugin optimizes screen-space usage in DSH Web, making conversation and approval workflows more compact and efficient.
