DeepSeek Harness adopts an “everything is a plugin” architecture. For developers, being able to view the account API balance in real time during development, or allowing agents to query the balance, is a key efficiency requirement. The dsh-deepseek-account plugin solves both issues by adding a wallet button to the Web GUI sidebar.

Plugin Positioning

This is an account plugin designed for DeepSeek Harness. It does not directly store API keys; instead, it acts as a supplemental layer for the UI and tooling, helping users quickly view balances in the sidebar and providing agents with an interface to query balances. The plugin is maintained by sunyuhuirong and released under the MIT license.

Core Features

The plugin provides the following verified capabilities:

  • Sidebar wallet button and balance popup: Adds a wallet button to the sidebar of the Web interface. Clicking it displays a balance card. This feature adapts to different sidebar states (rail/wide sidebar).
  • Agent tool interface: Exposes the deepseek_balance tool to agents in Harness, allowing agents to proactively query the account balance at runtime.
  • i18n support: Provides English and Simplified Chinese interfaces.

Installation and Enablement

Before installing, ensure that your DeepSeek Harness environment meets the requirements: Node.js version must be ^22.19 or >=24, and that you use ~/.dsh profiles.

Install the plugin and enable the Web profile:

dsh plugin add @deepseek-ai/dsh-deepseek-account --profile web

After installation, no additional configuration steps are required. You only need to configure the DEEPSEEK_API_KEY credential in Harness Settings. The plugin reads this credential automatically.

How It Works

The plugin operates as two coordinated parts:

  • Host Half (src/index.ts, src/balance.ts):
Responsible for registering the deepseek_balance tool. When an agent calls this tool, the Host half reads DEEPSEEK_API_KEY via the Harness credential service and calls the DeepSeek balance API to fetch the data.
  • Client Half (src/client/):
Responsible for registering to the settings.triggerExtra slot. This inserts a wallet button next to the Settings button in the sidebar and renders the balance card popup.

Notes

  • Display-only: The plugin currently only displays balances and does not perform other account operations.
  • Key security: API keys are centrally managed by Harness. This plugin does not store keys; they always remain in the DEEPSEEK_API_KEY credential under Harness Settings.
  • Source review: Because the plugin runs with local process privileges, we recommend reviewing the source code before use: https://github.com/sunyuhuirong/deepseek-account.

Conclusion

dsh-deepseek-account is a lightweight and secure auxiliary tool that seamlessly integrates balance queries into the DSH workflow. By combining a sidebar button with an agent tool, developers can focus more on agent logic development without manually switching pages to check balances.
