Introduction

The DeepSeek Harness ecosystem emphasizes that “everything is a plugin.” When developing or debugging agents, it is often necessary to manually check whether the backend process is running, start dsh web, wait for the service to become ready, and then open the browser. These steps are repetitive and time-consuming. dsh-launcher automates this workflow to reduce manual operations.

What This Is

dsh-launcher is a one-click launcher for DeepSeek Harness, maintained by shaun5297.

It is provided in two forms:
1. CLI tool: provides the dsh-launcher command to detect backend status, start the service, wait for readiness, and open the browser.
2. Harness plugin bundle: after installation with dsh plugin add, it provides the harness_launch tool to agents, enabling an agent to pull up or restore the Harness environment itself.

The tool depends only on dsh-tools and has no other runtime dependencies.

Core Features

  • Automated workflow: detect backend → start dsh web → wait for readiness → open Chrome.
  • Plugin integration: provides the harness_launch tool and integrates it into the Harness plugin ecosystem.
  • Zero dependencies: depends only on @deepseek-ai/dsh-tools.
  • Cross-platform: fully supports macOS and Windows; Linux code has been adapted.
  • Desktop shortcuts: supports generating .command (macOS), .cmd (Windows), or .desktop (Linux) files.
  • Environment variable configuration: supports customizing the listening address, port, and browser.

Installation and Enablement

As a CLI tool

Install globally:

npm install -g git+https://github.com/shaun5297/dsh-launcher.git

After installation, the dsh-launcher command is available.

As a Harness plugin

Add the plugin in the Harness environment:

dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-launcher

After refreshing the page or restarting dsh web, the agent can access the harness_launch tool.

Typical Usage

Basic operations

# 检测后台 → 启动(若未运行)→ 等待就绪 → 打开 Chrome
dsh-launcher

# 等价写法
dsh-launcher start

# 后台已在运行时,仅打开主页面
dsh-launcher open

# 查看后台状态(-- 输出标准格式)
dsh-launcher status
dsh-launcher status --

Advanced options

# 生成桌面快捷方式
dsh-launcher make-shortcut

# 指定端口和补丁文件
dsh-launcher --port 3080 --patch ./enable-skills.yml

# 演练模式:打印命令但不执行
dsh-launcher --dry-run

Environment Variables

The plugin supports the following environment variables to override default settings:

Environment Variable Default Value Description
DSH_LAUNCHER_HOST 127.0.0.1 Host address for the backend listener
DSH_LAUNCHER_PORT 3080 Port for the backend listener
DSH_LAUNCHER_BROWSER Chrome Name of the browser to open

Notes

  • Platform testing: macOS and Windows have been fully tested and support is complete. Linux code has been adapted but has not been tested.
  • macOS permissions: when running the generated .command file for the first time, if the system blocks it, you need to allow execution permission in “System Settings → Privacy & Security”, or right-click and choose Open.
  • Dependencies: requires Node.js >= 18 and depends on @deepseek-ai/dsh-tools.
  • License: MIT License.
