Finding video assets for editing often runs into the same friction: free libraries are scattered, download links and license terms are unclear, and niche topics can look like failures when they are simply rare. video-material-finder treats the asset name as a structured search task: clarify the request, prioritize free commercial-use sources, and fall back to paid entries with pricing and search suggestions.

How it works

The skill follows a practical workflow:
- Input validation: rejects empty or vague terms and asks for scene, resolution, duration, and style.
- Requirement parsing: extracts theme, style, 4K/1080p, and license preference, defaulting to free commercial-use assets.
- Source selection: searches Pexels, Pixabay, Mixkit, Coverr, and Videvo free sections first; paid platforms are used only as direct search entries with price references.
- Keyword conversion: maps Chinese descriptions to English search phrases that work better on international sites, such as city night aerial or timelapse.
- Fallback logic: skips unresponsive platforms, retries with simplified or broader keywords, and reports what was searched on each source.
- Result formatting: groups results by platform with preview, download, resolution, duration, and license type; if results are sparse, it suggests better keywords, paid options, or AI generation.

Boundaries

It is useful for short-form video, social media, and basic promotional edits. However, licenses differ across CC0, royalty-free, and CC BY assets; recognizable people, trademarks, and private buildings may still require additional clearance. Prefer platform-standard URLs over CDN links, which can expire.
