About this skill

Problem Context

When LLM agents call professional software, they often hit three friction points: the software is built for human interaction, its output is hard to parse programmatically, and each tool has different entrypoints, parameters, and environment dependencies. CLI-Hub targets this workflow by organizing agent-callable command-line interfaces into a catalog while keeping each tool behind an independent package boundary.

How It Works

The catalog gives agents a discovery surface: tools are listed by category with descriptions and usage patterns, and the plain-text SKILL.txt file is easy for agents to parse. At runtime, CLI-Hub resolves a tool name to an independent cli-anything-* package, each with its own CLI entrypoint and integration with a real software backend. For agents, the value is not merely “opening a web app”; it is access to stateful operations, REPL mode, one-shot commands, and machine-readable --json output.

Scope and Caveats

This is a good fit for workflows that need to chain existing software capabilities into an agent pipeline, such as document handling, media workflows, diagramming, browser automation, and local model invocation when those capabilities are CLI-ready. It is not a universal software entry point if the target tool lacks a CLI package, the backend dependencies are unavailable, or the process depends heavily on GUI interaction and human judgment. Treat JSON output as an automation contract, and keep human review, permissions, package versions, and privacy boundaries explicit.

Use Cases

  • Wire image-editing CLIs into a local LLM workflow and parse `--json` results.
  • Run video or audio-processing commands from an agent to turn software steps into structured actions.
  • Use `cli-hub search` to find CLIs for diagramming, browser automation, or local models.
  • Chain document generation, diagramming, and media processing into one CLI automation pipeline.

Best For

  • Platform engineers who need LLMs to call local models, image generation, or AI APIs.
  • Agent developers who want video, audio, image, or document-processing commands in automation pipelines.
  • Multi-agent architects who need to discover and compose professional tools from a CLI catalog.
