About this skill

Problem

When junior high biology teachers prepare a usable lesson plan, the usual blocker is not a lack of content, but scattered constraints: topic, grade, textbook edition, period length, student prior concepts, lab conditions, and teacher preference all interact. A design that simply stacks objectives, activities, and assessments can become teacher-centered, or produce broad goals that are hard to assess. bio-lesson-planner targets grades 7-8 biology, aligns to the 2022 Biology Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education, and structures preparation into confirmable interaction steps instead of asking teachers to produce a complete draft all at once.

How It Works

  • Lesson planning: collects topic, grade, textbook edition, periods, textbook pages, student context, lab conditions, and teaching preference one question at a time, then recommends frameworks such as 5E, ARCS, UbD, scenario-based teaching, concept teaching, task-driven learning, or PBL.
  • Design review: reads an existing Word, PDF, image, or text draft, then diagnoses teaching objectives, student analysis, teaching process, scenario design, assessment design, and key or difficult points. It gives ratings, concrete problems, and actionable suggestions, then supports iterative revision by section.
  • Key-stage design: drills into objectives, student context, opening scenarios, teaching activities, inquiry experiments, homework, and assessment, emphasizing observable verbs, alignment between teaching and assessment, and tiered assignments.

Boundaries

This skill is intended for junior high biology teachers preparing, reviewing, or refining lesson designs, with default output in .md files for easier editing. If no textbook pages are provided, it may supplement information from public sources and topic conventions, which may not match a specific edition’s page order or activities. Frameworks such as PBL usually need multiple periods and should not be forced into a single-period design. Final experiment decisions still depend on available equipment, safety requirements, and real student readiness.

Use Cases

  • Design a one-period grade 7 lesson on gas exchange in the lungs, generating 5E stages such as engage and explore step by step.
  • Upload a Word draft on plant transpiration and diagnose objectives, student context, and assessment, then revise one section at a time.
  • Design an opening scenario for a blood lesson, producing a cognitive-conflict question chain that leads into core content.
  • Prepare an open-class assessment stage, generating task sheets, observation records, and performance rubrics aligned to objectives.

Best For

  • Grade 7-8 biology teachers who need to turn curriculum standards, textbook pages, student context, and lab constraints into an executable lesson plan.
  • Teachers preparing open or competition lessons who need to check alignment among objectives, activities, and assessment, then iterate specific stages.
  • Teachers revising an existing lesson plan who need concrete suggestions for objectives, opening scenarios, or homework design.
  • Biology teaching-research group members who need a consistent framework to review multiple lesson designs for core competencies and assessment alignment.
