About this skill

Problem

WeChat threads are less about missing information and more about signal buried under noise: a single message, unread backlog, or a group window can mix replies needed, follow-ups, notifications, and small talk. Scrolling linearly makes it easy to miss a deadline or generate unnecessary chatter.

How it works

wechat-summary starts by choosing the scope: one message, recent unread messages, a full conversation window, or a noisy group thread. It then separates content into actionable items, information only, social chatter, and may need reply. When drafting replies, it matches tone to relationship and context instead of producing a generic response.

Common output modes include:

  • Catch-up summary: answers “what happened while I was away?” with 3-7 bullets, including who said what and any decision, request, or deadline.
  • Action-item summary: extracts tasks with owner, action, due time, and missing information.
  • Reply triage: labels items as reply now, can wait, or no reply needed.
  • Draft reply: gives one short, sendable draft by default; alternatives only appear when tone is uncertain.

Boundaries

This skill is about summarization and triage, not inferring missing context. In group chats, it should not pull private context from other conversations into suggestions. If message coverage is partial and confidence is low, it should say so. For engineers, the useful outcome is surfacing what to read, what to do, and how to reply.

Use Cases

  • Triage an unread group window and split messages into reply now, can wait, and no reply needed.
  • Catch up after a meeting by summarizing who said what and any decision, request, or deadline.
  • Extract tasks from a work chat into owner, action, due time, and missing information.
  • Draft one short sendable reply for a colleague or client message, with alternatives if tone is uncertain.

Best For

  • Engineers tracking project groups: pull decisions, tasks, and items that need their reply from noisy discussion.
  • Product managers handling external clients: decide which private chats need a response and which are info only.
  • Collaboration assistants taking over a thread: turn unread conversations into a task list and reply priority.
  • Operations staff switching across work groups: separate actions, social chatter, and follow-up requests.
