About this skill

Problem

Many craft scrapers in a drawer or bin look nearly identical, while they serve different tasks: paper crafts, vinyl, paint removal, clay, or stencil work. Choosing the wrong one can contaminate materials, spoil fine work, or create ownership confusion in a shared studio. This skill addresses storage identification only; it does not teach scraper use, blade changes, or surface scraping.

How It Works

The skill produces a label system through five steps. It starts by asking how many scrapers need labels, what projects they support, whether some must stay clean, and what storage exists. It then maps each scraper to a sleeve, drawer slot, hook, or pouch. The printable label includes a project type badge, owner name, clean status indicator, return spot prompt, and monthly review date line, with examples such as Returns to Drawer 2, Slot 4. It also gives attachment advice: sew or pin labels onto fabric sleeves, tape labels onto plastic sleeves, stick them to slot dividers, or print them into cardstock sheath templates. Finally, it recommends a monthly cycle to check clean status, clean needed tools, return them to the labeled spot, and update the review date.

Boundaries

Use it for organizing visually similar craft tools, shared tool drawers, or labeling hooks and pouches. It does not provide cutting technique, scraping angle, blade safety, or injury prevention guidance; usage questions should be redirected to proper safety resources.

Use Cases

  • Sort visually similar craft scrapers and generate printable drawer labels.
  • Label shared studio scrapers with owner, project type, and clean status.
  • Choose sleeve, slot, or hook attachment methods and add a monthly routine.
  • Separate paper, vinyl, and paint scrapers with return-spot label prompts.

Best For

  • Paper-craft studio leads organizing similar scrapers and making drawer labels
  • Craft teachers managing shared tool ownership and clean status in a studio
  • Tool managers standardizing return spots for hooks, slots, and sleeves
  • Workshop assistants separating paper, vinyl, and paint scrapers with a review routine
