About this skill

Problem

When sharing local files temporarily, the common workflow still requires logging into a cloud drive, dragging files in, and copying a link. That is more friction than needed when the goal is simply to turn a PDF, image, audio, or video file into an accessible URL. Gofile File Upload reduces this to a single natural-language instruction, making it suitable for quick document exchange, light archiving, and cross-device access.

How It Works

The skill extracts the local absolute file path from the conversation and, optionally, a folder ID. If no folder is specified, it creates a new one. After upload, it returns two links: a file link for opening or downloading the item, and a folder link for viewing other uploaded files in the same directory. The source material indicates support for arbitrary file types, image previews, audio/video playback, Hermes Agent compatibility, and resumable uploads. On failure, it reports causes such as missing files or network timeouts, making retry simpler.

Boundaries and Notes

The path must be a full local absolute path to avoid read errors. Gofile uses overseas nodes, so large uploads may be affected by local network conditions. Files unvisited for 10 days may be archived automatically, so important material should still be backed up locally. A fixed monthly traffic quota exists, so it is not ideal as a high-throughput object store. Avoid publicly sharing private or sensitive content. This skill is better suited to temporary sharing and lightweight file management than enterprise permission control, auditing, or long-term archival.

Use Cases

  • When a client requests a contract PDF, send the local path to the agent and get a Gofile file link.
  • Before delivering a batch of design assets, upload local JPGs to Gofile and share a folder link.
  • During remote recording review, upload a local video to Gofile and send a playable link to teammates.
  • When archiving temporary project files, upload them into an existing Gofile folder by folder ID.

Best For

  • Engineers who need to send a local PDF to an external client for temporary review
  • Designers who want to deliver a batch of images with previewable links
  • QA engineers who need to send a local screen recording to remote teammates
  • Automation users who manage temporary files in Hermes Agent without manual cloud-drive logins
