About this skill

Problem It Addresses

lx-music-assistant helps users who already run LX Music Desktop control the local player from an AI agent. It does not replace music catalogs; it calls the OpenAPI service through an embedded CLI so the model can search, play, inspect status, adjust volume, and read local playlists. The desktop app must be installed and its open API on port 23330 enabled.

How the Skill Works

The skill converts natural-language requests into CLI calls and then verifies the outcome:
- Search / wake-up: search shows results in the player and wakes it; searchPlay starts playback directly.
- Smart playback: for well-known artists, it may recommend representative songs via searchPlay; for uncertain names, it searches first to reduce wrong matches.
- Playback control: supports pause, resume, previous, and next tracks, with status used to report state.
- Playlists: local playlist IDs can be retrieved with list; online playlists require an explicit source such as kw, kg, tx, wy, or mg.

Boundaries and Caveats

This skill depends on a local desktop environment and a running OpenAPI service, so it is not suitable when LX Music Desktop is absent or when a purely cloud-based music lookup is needed. A short delay of about 500ms before checking status helps avoid stale results. Volume has a known issue: if status reports volume=0, the user should drag the volume bar once to activate the parameter, because API changes may not take effect before activation.

Use Cases

  • With LX Music Desktop OpenAPI enabled, ask the agent to search an artist and play representative songs.
  • Given a NetEase or QQ playlist URL, extract the source and playlist ID to query online playlists.
  • During playback, pause, resume, skip tracks, and report the current status through CLI calls.
  • When local collections are large, query local playlist lists and report usable playlist IDs.

Best For

  • Engineers using LX Music Desktop who want natural-language playback control.
  • Local music library users who need quick artist- or playlist-based song lookup.
  • AI agent developers integrating local desktop OpenAPI endpoints.
  • Music users who convert playlist links into platform sources and IDs for queries.
