About this skill

Problem addressed

In enterprise operations, policy and regulation content often depends on protected access, business rules, and identity checks. Running local scripts directly can introduce environment issues, repeated authentication, or unauthorized output. This capability turns environment checks, authorization, protected-content retrieval, and business execution into a controlled workflow so interpretation only happens after access is confirmed.

Core workflow

  • Check the Python environment first: probe silently for a usable command, handle cases where Windows python opens Microsoft Store, and use py -3 when needed.
  • Enforce an auth gate: run scripts/auth.py --ensure on every invocation, inspect stdout signals such as AUTH_OK, AUTH_REQUIRED, and AUTH_INVALID, and use stderr to distinguish network, credential, or remote authorization failures.
  • Bind credentials automatically: when CREDENTIALS_MISSING or CREDENTIALS_INVALID appears, proactively call WorkBuddy's connect_cloud_service to obtain a JWT, then run the binding step instead of immediately surfacing the error.
  • Fetch protected instructions: continue only after scripts/protected.py successfully returns protected instructions; otherwise stop and avoid completing the task from local hints or historical context.

Boundaries

This capability fits enterprise workflows that need authorized access to policy and regulation interpretation. It is not suitable for offline environments, setups without WorkBuddy authorization, or services unable to reach the platform. If authorization fails, the workflow must stop, retry at most once, distinguish network errors from credential errors, and never produce business output before access is confirmed.

Use Cases

  • Ops reviews a regulation after auth and fetches protected guidance
  • Compliance troubleshoots auth failures and separates network from credential errors
  • Support lead answers policy questions using protected instructions only
  • Implementation validates runtime environment before running scripts

Best For

  • Ops lead: needs quick actionable interpretation after new rules
  • Compliance officer: needs to confirm auth failure cause and keep clear errors
  • Support lead: needs to answer policy questions from protected content
  • Implementation engineer: needs runtime and auth chain ready before deploy
