Improve Writing

Problem

When a draft already exists but is verbose, awkward, ungrammatical, or full of translationese, rewriting from scratch can easily change the author’s intent or break Markdown structure. This skill focuses on revising quality rather than creating new content.

How It Works

• Scope detection: If the text includes a selection marker or the user explicitly quotes a fragment, revise only that fragment; otherwise revise the full passage or provided context.
• Style preference: On first use it can ask whether to keep the original voice, make it more formal, more concise, more conversational, or custom. If a preference is already present, apply it directly.
• Revision principles: It works on clarity, grammar, and flow, removing filler, splitting long sentences, fixing punctuation, tense, and awkward phrasing, and reducing translationese and AI-typical wording.
• Comparison output: Results are presented as “original / revised / notes” so each change can be checked. If no meaningful improvement is needed, it says so plainly.

Boundaries

It does not add facts, alter the core argument, or remove existing structure. It tries to preserve headings, lists, indentation, links, URLs, code blocks, inline code, bold, italics, and technical terms. It is best for polishing existing prose, tightening paragraphs, or cleaning up documentation, not for drafting from scratch, fact-checking, creative rewriting, or large-scale restructuring.
