About this skill

Problem It Solves

Portrait shooting often fails at small decisions: where to place weight, what to do with hands, and which camera angle suits the group. This skill turns posing advice into concrete constraints for solo, couple, group, travel, and selfie scenarios, making it easier to draft shooting prompts or on-set direction instead of relying on vague “be natural” advice.

How It Works

It first identifies scenario and vibe, such as solo, couples, travel, casual, or elegant. It then returns 3–5 specific poses with body positioning details. Key principles include:
- Angles first: use a ¾ body angle instead of a flat front-facing stance.
- Create triangles: bend elbows, knees, or tilt the head to add movement.
- Give hands a purpose: pockets, hair, or props keep arms from floating.
- Composition and lighting: each pose includes 1–2 practical composition or lighting notes.

Boundaries

It is useful for posing prompts, shot lists, and quick reference, not as a substitute for an on-site photographer handling height differences, costume occlusion, or venue limits. Bundled files such as references/solo.md, references/couples.md, references/groups.md, references/travel.md, and references/selfies.md provide category notes, but wedding, team, or family shots still need adjustment for group size, space, and equipment.

Use Cases

  • A travel photography assistant plans a location shot list and generates 3–5 poses with composition and lighting notes.
  • A couple portrait planner builds a shooting brief and gets concrete hand, weight, and body-angle instructions.
  • A social content creator writes a selfie tutorial and requests angles for height, slenderness, and longer-leg looks.
  • An event photographer prepares a group photo plan and uses multi-person references for spacing, hands, and camera distance.

Best For

  • Travel photography assistant engineers who turn destination shoot requests into actionable pose scripts.
  • Couple or wedding photographers who need quick hand, weight, and body-angle guidance for anniversary portraits.
  • Social media content creators who produce selfie and photo-by-others tutorials focused on height, slenderness, and leg length.
  • Event coordinators or team photographers who need group spacing, hand placement, and camera-distance plans.
