About this skill

Problem

When a video is mainly a delivery channel for spoken words, the practical need is often editable text, not another watched video. Re-listening and manually cleaning up lines is error-prone. This skill targets “text-only” extraction: it converts speech from local mp4 files or platform video links into TXT, which is useful for review, translation, and content rewriting. It does not create burned-in subtitle videos or perform watermark-free downloads.

How It Works and Limits

The skill invokes the Whaleclip desktop CLI capability transcript.extractVideoScript. A typical flow is: confirm the command is enabled, check login and VIP status, pass a local path or http(s) link via --input, control the output location with --outputDir / --output, and set --lang when needed. Results are read from a single-line JSON stdout; on success, use the output path and character count; on failure, map the issue to missing enablement, expired login, VIP, path, or quota. Note: it depends on the official desktop app and cloud service, requires a valid login and VIP, and should not expose stderr logs, internal fields, model names, or API details to the user.

Use Cases

  • Review a local mp4 voiceover and extract the spoken script to TXT for line-by-line editing.
  • Turn a Douyin voiceover link into editable copy for rewriting ad titles.
  • Extract Chinese spoken content into plain text before translating it into English, without burned-in subtitles.
  • Collect short-video voiceover scripts into a topic library by generating TXT drafts quickly.

Best For

  • Short-video operators who handle multiple voiceover videos weekly and need editable copy
  • Translators who translate Chinese voiceover content into English and need plain-text source
  • Content editors who review video lines and organize topic material
  • Technical operators using Whaleclip desktop and calling transcription via CLI
