About this skill

Problem Solved

WeRead data such as books, reading progress, highlights, ideas, reviews, and recommendations is scattered across app pages. Answering questions like "How many chapters are in this book?", "Where am I reading?", or "What are the popular highlights in this chapter?" usually requires opening the right entry manually. This skill keeps common query flows inside a conversation: resolve a book name to bookId, call WeRead endpoints for core fields, and generate deep links that open the correct location in the app.

How It Works

It calls WeRead through Agent API Gateway using POST + JSON and Authorization: Bearer $WEREAD_API_KEY. Each body must include skill_version. Core capabilities include:
- Search and book details: use /store/search to get bookId, then query details, chapters, and progress.
- Shelf and stats: view shelf, reading duration, days, and preference analysis.
- Notes and reviews: view personal highlights, ideas, chapter popular highlights, and public book reviews.
- Recommendations: personalized and similar-book recommendations.

Lists are numbered for selection; search results emphasize title, author, and rating. Chapters, highlights, and ideas can include URL Schema links to return to the exact WeRead app location.

Boundaries

A user-bound WEREAD_API_KEY is required before calling identity-dependent endpoints. Responses are field-trimmed, so the skill is best for querying, organizing, and deep-linking rather than every in-app action. If errcode is non-zero, follow the Chinese error hint; if upgrade_info appears, complete the upgrade before re-running the request.

Use Cases

  • A reading blogger researching a chapter checks popular highlights and ideas to locate quotable sentences and context for draft notes.
  • A knowledge manager reviewing yearly reading summarizes monthly duration, days, and titles to produce a personal preference note for review.
  • A translator verifying a chapter searches by title, opens the chapter list, and checks progress and highlights in the target chapter.
  • An editor selecting books searches candidates by theme, checks ratings, details, and public reviews to decide whether to feature them.

Best For

  • Reading bloggers: compile popular highlights, ideas, and public reviews for chapter commentary or book-list copy.
  • Knowledge managers: review duration, days, shelf, and preferences to produce a personal reading report.
  • Book editors: search candidates by theme, check ratings, details, and reviews to decide feature value.
  • Translators or proofreaders: verify chapter lists, progress, and highlights in a target chapter to locate source text.
