About this skill
Problem Context
Junior high English writing practice often fails when prompts exceed the curriculum, templates are generic, or model essays use grammar that students have not learned yet. For PEP grades 7 to 9, especially exam preparation, writing tasks should follow unit topics, core sentence patterns, and difficulty levels rather than borrowing adult-level essay structures. This skill turns that scenario into a configurable generation workflow using grade, term, unit, knowledge point, and difficulty, so prompts stay aligned with the textbook progress.
How It Works
In the default mode, the skill first confirms the parameters, then reads the relevant grade and unit topics, vocabulary, sentence patterns, and grammar scope from references/unit_syllabus.md. It generates four artifacts in sequence:
- Writing prompt: a Chinese context description plus 3 to 5 English points, with word count and difficulty level.
- Writing template: an opening, body, and closing framework for genres such as narrative, application, or chart-based writing.
- Model essay: kept within the grammar range of the target grade, with a short review of high-scoring expressions.
- Scoring notes: based on a five-level rubric, including required points, common loss points, and scoring details.
When a student draft is provided, the skill switches to grading mode: it assigns a score and level, marks grammar, spelling, and collocation errors sentence by sentence, and gives 2 to 3 upgrade suggestions with a revised example.
Scope and Caveats
This skill is mainly intended for PEP-based junior high English writing and is not a fit for senior high or university writing. It depends on references/unit_syllabus.md, references/writing_templates.md, and references/scoring_rubric.md; without those files, unit alignment and rubric consistency may be less reliable. Grade 9 uses a single volume, so the term parameter is ignored. If an out-of-scope word is used, a Chinese gloss should be added.
Use Cases
- Generate a Unit 1 prompt, three-paragraph template, and model essay for a class timed-writing lesson.
- Score a student draft with a five-level band, mark grammar and spelling errors sentence by sentence.
- Create chart-essay prompts, scoring details, and common loss points for a Grade 9 unit review.
- Prepare basic, standard, and exam-sprint versions of the same unit writing task for different classes.
Best For
- A junior high PEP English teacher preparing unit writing tasks, templates, and rubrics.
- A Grade 9 exam-prep teacher creating chart-essay and application writing by unit topic.
- A study assistant reviewing student drafts with sentence-level corrections and upgrade advice.
- A tiered-class English teacher preparing basic and exam-sprint writing sets for different levels.
