About this skill

Problem

Patent figures are not decorative illustrations; they are a visual statement of the scope of the claimed invention. Engineers often have a technical disclosure, claim set, or scheme description but need a quick way to turn that text into patent-style line drawings. The output must remain black-and-white, concise, and faithful to the source, without adding modules, signals, or relationships that are not present.

How It Works

The skill processes input in three confirmation-gated stages:
- Figure titles: it identifies independently drawable logical units, such as system architecture, method flow, module structure, or signal/data flow, and produces titles like Fig. X is a schematic diagram of the XX system.
- Drawing plan: it extracts named entities, maps relationships to boxes, arrows, diamonds, and dashed lines, compresses labels to key nouns, and provides a plain-language layout preview before any drawing is generated.
- SVG output: after confirmation, it produces black-and-white line SVGs, roughly 800px wide, with consistent line style, centered text, directional arrows, and alignment checks for endpoints, crossings, and completeness.

Boundaries

It is suitable for method/flow diagrams, system architecture diagrams, simple mechanical structural diagrams, signal/data-flow diagrams, and state-transition diagrams. It should not be used for exact dimensioned engineering drawings, section views, 3D structural drawings, complex circuit schematics, chemical structures, or optical path diagrams. No more than three SVG figures are generated per interaction; additional figures should be produced in batches.

Use Cases

  • Turn a claim set into black-and-white patent figures for system architecture, modules, and signal flow.
  • Draft figure titles and a drawing plan from a disclosure before colleagues review the layout.
  • Convert conditional steps and feedback loops in a scheme note into submittable black-and-white SVG diagrams.
  • Redraw a system block diagram with endpoint alignment and verify that all stated modules are present.

Best For

  • Engineers drafting patent applications who need clean black-and-white figures without extra invented elements.
  • Technical disclosure authors who want to confirm titles, nesting, arrows, and layout before drawing.
  • Product technology owners who need module composition, data flow, and state changes turned into shareable line diagrams.
  • Patent document editors who need to verify that stated parts are present and maintain a pure line-drawing style.
