About this skill
What Problem It Solves
When a learning goal feels vague, the usual blocker is not “working hard,” but the lack of an executable path: a concept is still unclear, the study plan is scattered, repeated mistakes keep happening, review deadlines are hard to track, and weekly reflection has no structure. Learning Buddy turns that process into a learning loop: goal clarification → current-state diagnosis → plan breakdown → explanation → practice checks → spaced repetition review → weekly iteration.
It is useful for turning requests like “help me learn math,” “organize my exam prep,” or “I have a sprint week” into a checklist with time boxes, materials, completion criteria, and review nodes.
How It Works
The default workflow has five steps:
- Clarify: confirm the subject/topic, goal, deadline, current level, available time, and source materials.
- Diagnose: when information is missing, start with
3-5 diagnostic questionsor a lightweight self-test. - Route: send the task to planning, explanation, weak-point review, repetition, or summary.
- Output: provide a checklist, schedule, practice/checkpoints, and the next review node.
- Accept: define the “done criteria” and the information needed for the next feedback round.
Several sub-modules are especially practical:
- Planner: when the goal is clear but the path is not, output a daily/weekly plan, milestones, and risk buffer.
- Explainer: teach concepts using
intuitive explanation → formal definition → examples → counterexamples → mini quiz. - Gap finder: extract weak points, error types, and priorities from wrong answers, notes, or course outlines.
- Reviewer: generate a review queue using
D0/D1/D3/D7/D14/D30. - Summarizer: aggregate completion, difficulties, improvement actions, and next-week priorities.
The output usually starts with a conclusion or plan summary, then adds tables or checklists. Each study task should include: task, duration, materials, and completion criteria; explanations should include at least one example and one self-test question.
Boundaries and Caveats
This skill is better suited to study planning and concept explanation than to replacing official exam answers, promising score improvements, writing assignments for you, or giving medical/legal diagnoses. For school, career, or certification choices, it should be used as a thinking aid rather than a final decision source; consult teachers, mentors, or official information when needed.
If source material is hard to parse, pasting the outline, wrong answers, or key passages works best. If the deadline is missing, a 2-week default cycle can be used as an adjustable starting point.
Use Cases
- Turn course chapters, wrong answers, and daily study time into a two-week exam plan with completion criteria.
- Explain a confusing formula or concept step by step using intuition, definition, examples, counterexamples, and a mini quiz.
- Prioritize weekly mistakes, notes, and weak points, then generate D1/D3/D7 review checkpoints.
- Compile weekly completion, evidence of mastery, top weak points, and three next-week actions during study retrospectives.
Best For
- Students preparing for exams or certifications who need to split syllabus, wrong answers, and remaining time into a daily plan.
- Engineers self-studying programming or new tools who need to turn tutorial outlines into exercises, artifacts, and feedback loops.
- Product or engineering leads running team learning sessions who need concept explanations, mini quizzes, and weekly retrospective templates.
- Graduate or certification candidates who want review queues based on D0/D1/D3/D7/D14/D30.
