About this skill

APQP Delivery Support

Automotive and component projects often keep APQP, FMEA, control plans, and PPAP files in scattered spreadsheets, emails, and engineer notes. It is easy to miss special characteristics at kickoff, assemble a PPAP package late, or let updated FMEA findings diverge from the control plan.

How It Works

The skill turns the five APQP phases into concrete steps and generates structured documents:

  • Project setup: capture product name, target market, SOP date, and customer special requirements to draft a project charter and phase plan.
  • Phase guidance: cover planning, product design, process design, product and process validation, and feedback and improvement.
  • Document generation: use generate_fmea.py for DFMEA / PFMEA, generate_control_plan.py for control plans, generate_ppap.py for the PPAP 19-item checklist, and generate_gantt.py for an HTML Gantt chart.
  • Risk tracking: use analyze_risk.py to prioritize high RPN items, special characteristics, and corrective actions.
  • Knowledge base: reference phase checklists, IATF 16949 points, and best practices when needed.

Boundaries

It is useful for drafting quality project documents, checking status, and structuring phase work, but it does not replace customer requirements, design reviews, or shop-floor verification. Provide product, process, and supplier data before generation. FMEA and PPAP outputs still need confirmation by quality, process, and design teams, with customer and standard requirements taking precedence.

Use Cases

  • At project kickoff, capture product name, SOP date, and customer special requirements to draft a charter and phase plan.
  • After DFMEA is complete, generate a control plan from FMEA findings, marking special characteristics, controls, and measurement requirements.
  • Before pilot production, build a PPAP 19-item checklist by submission level and track pending, complete, and not-applicable items.
  • During progress reviews, generate an HTML Gantt chart with phase milestones, progress percentages, and critical path highlights.

Best For

  • Quality engineers who need to turn APQP phase outputs into trackable document lists and checkpoints.
  • Project managers who need to maintain phase plans, milestones, and risk review inputs during kickoff or progress reviews.
  • Process engineers who need to generate control plans from PFMEA and process flows, then verify special characteristic controls.
  • Supplier quality engineers who need to organize PPAP submissions, file status, and missing items against customer requirements.
