About this skill

Problem

x402-monetize addresses a specific issue: an API may already provide options signals, whale-flow alerts, Elliott Wave counts, max-pain levels, and backtests, but public access gives away high-value data for free. Adding login, subscriptions, or webhook notifications introduces account management, billing, refunds, and risk control. Many callers, however, are scripts, trading terminals, or automation services that prefer pay-per-request.

How It Works

The skill integrates the x402 payment protocol into existing HTTP endpoints. Its core job is not to generate trading data, but to attach pricing and settlement flow to each route: /api/signals/:ticker, /api/whale/:ticker, /api/wave/:ticker, /api/maxpain/:ticker, and /api/backtest all have different prices, while /api/services can list paid endpoints for free.

A typical flow is:
- Client requests GET /api/signals/AAPL
- Server returns 402 Payment Required with payment details
- Client pays USDC to the facilitator
- Client retries with payment proof
- Server validates the proof and returns data

Boundaries

It fits existing HTTP APIs that want per-request pricing and whose clients support x402. Keep in mind that prices, USDC payment, and payment proof depend on external protocol behavior. If the endpoint lacks authentication, rate limiting, audit logs, or the trading-signal strategy itself is unstable, adding x402 alone will not solve those problems.

Use Cases

  • Add x402 billing to an options-market endpoint such as /api/signals/AAPL and release data only after payment proof.
  • Make a trading-assistance service charge per request on /api/whale/:ticker with USDC and log payment-proof retries.
  • Set per-run pricing for a quant platform’s /api/backtest so automation scripts no longer consume compute for free.
  • Expose /api/services in an endpoint catalog so callers can see which options-data routes are paid and which are free.

Best For

  • Engineers running options-API services who want per-request charges without building a full subscription system
  • Backend developers maintaining trading-signal endpoints who need payment gating on /api/signals or /api/whale
  • Full-stack developers building quant data gateways who need x402 for USDC collection and payment-proof retries
  • Developers exposing backtest jobs who need to turn /api/backtest from free access into a per-run paid endpoint
