About this skill

Problem Solved

Competitive analysis often stalls when information is scattered across official sites, funding reports, e-commerce reviews, and industry reports. Single-source claims make it hard to judge market structure, business models, and growth strategy. This skill takes a competitor name and market track as input, then produces a standardized report focused on market landscape, business model, and growth strategy.

How It Works

The skill follows a fixed workflow:
- Scope confirmation: asks no more than three questions to clarify target competitors, track definition, and priority modules.
- Multi-round search: begins with broad keyword coverage, fetches high-quality pages via web_fetch, then fills gaps against the 11-module template.
- Cross-validation: cites claims supported by multiple sources, marks single-source items as to verify, flags missing data, and records source URLs in the appendix.
- Structured output: renders Markdown with comparisons, prioritized lists, and module-based sections; key conclusions include data or sources.

Boundaries

It is suited for public-source competitive synthesis and decision support, not a replacement for internal interviews, paid databases, or compliance due diligence. Chinese competitors should use Chinese-language sources where possible. Data freshness must be noted, and unavailable or uncertain data should be marked rather than invented. Sensitive judgments about the user’s own strategy should be handled separately and excluded from public reports.

Use Cases

  • Before entering a new market, quickly validate competitor positioning, business model, and customer acquisition paths.
  • Prepare review materials by cross-checking key facts from official sites, industry reports, and e-commerce reviews with sources.
  • Compare pricing, target users, and growth tactics of two SaaS competitors into a decision-ready Markdown report.
  • Review competitor feature and channel changes during quarterly retrospectives, flag missing data, and list source links.

Best For

  • Product planning leads: organize public competitor data into sourced, traceable comparisons.
  • Market analysts: cross-validate official, report, and review data into an 11-module report.
  • Growth operators: map competitor acquisition channels, pricing strategy, and growth tactics.
  • Founders or investor assistants: quickly understand market structure and competitor business models before due diligence.
