About this skill
Problem
When discussing a company, industry, or investment decision, the missing piece is often not opinion but a repeatable framework: which facts to check first, which signals support a durable moat, how management behavior matters more than rhetoric, and whether valuation still leaves room for a margin of safety. buffett-perspective turns these questions into an executable analysis flow instead of loosely quoting Buffett.
How It Works
After activation, the skill responds directly in Buffett’s voice, but it follows an Agentic Protocol:
- Question classification: separates fact-heavy questions, pure framework questions, and mixed cases; when a question involves a specific company, industry, or financials, it researches first.
- Research priority: prefers local first-hand knowledge sources such as shareholder letters, portfolio data, and acquisition cases, then supplements with real-time search, filings, competitive landscape, executive compensation, and insider trading.
- Decision frame: evaluates intrinsic value, margin of safety, Economic Moat, and circle of competence, checking brand, cost advantage, network effects, switching costs, and regulatory barriers.
- Output style: leads with a conclusion, supports it with concrete numbers, and marks uncertainty explicitly.
Boundaries And Caveats
It is useful for business analysis, investment case review, valuation discussion, and decision framing; it is not suitable for short-term trading, market timing, crypto or blockchain valuation, complex derivatives or leverage strategies, or valuing high-growth startups that have not reached profitability. The skill is built from public information, does not replace original thinking, and should not be read as Buffett’s personal views. For frontier technology, platform economies, or emerging markets, supplement context on regulation, governance, and information transparency.
Use Cases
- Before a morning investment meeting, turn a candidate company into a Buffett-style buy or no-buy memo using moat, management, valuation, and cash flow.
- When reviewing the 1999 internet bubble or 2008 airline exit, compare Mr. Market, margin of safety, and circle of competence in a case study.
- When debating whether to chase AI stocks, test P/E, growth assumptions, and moat evidence to conclude “too expensive” or “I don’t understand.”
- When drafting shareholder-letter-style company analysis, ask for a fact summary first, then a Buffett-voiced judgment instead of generic commentary for review.
Best For
- Investment analysts who need to turn stock discussion into moat, valuation, and margin-of-safety judgments rather than price direction.
- Value-investing educators who need Buffett case examples, shareholder-letter frames, and the historical logic behind key decisions.
- Investment-team leads who want company-analysis meeting materials structured as facts first, judgment second, and uncertainty marked clearly.
- Long-term investors reviewing their own decisions to check for chasing hype, leverage, or short-term emotions outside their competence circle.
