Ready-to-Use Canva Poster Design Assistant

Problem

When operations or engineers need event posters, official-account covers, or social media graphics quickly, hand-editing Canva templates and repeatedly adjusting layouts can be slow. This skill connects a natural-language request to the Canva Connect API and the official canva-mcp, turning “create a poster” into an executable flow that returns an editable link.

How It Works

The skill first parses parameters such as topic, dimensions, template preference, and brand colors, asking for missing key details instead of inventing them. It then uses an OAuth token to call Canva, creates or fills a template, generates the design, and returns a structured result with an editable link, status, and next-step suggestions. Credentials are injected via environment variables such as CANVA_CONNECT_TOKEN, keeping personal tokens out of prompts and code. Sensitive actions such as export, rewrite, or deletion show a preview and wait for confirmation.

Boundaries

It is best for producing editable Canva designs, with optional PNG or PDF export, but depends on access to Canva’s overseas SaaS, a developer App, and completed OAuth authorization. Tokens can access design assets, so permissions should be scoped minimally. The skill does not replace brand governance, copyright review, or offline design workflows, and it does not guarantee pixel-perfect brand parity.
