About this skill
The Problem
Resume review often lacks a consistent rubric: recruiters, candidates, and hiring managers may weigh structure, keywords, and project depth differently. This skill treats the resume file as input and returns a structured assessment instead of a vague paragraph. It supports PDF, DOCX, DOC, TXT, and MD files, which makes it useful for self-review, early screening, or interview preparation.
How It Works and Its Limits
The skill runs inside the conversation environment and does not require a separately deployed backend service. The core flow is:
- Resume parsing: extract text from the uploaded file and identify usable information such as education, skills, projects, and work experience.
- Dimension scoring: produce an overall score of 0-100, plus content completeness 0-25, structural clarity 0-20, skill matching 0-25, professional expression 0-15, and project experience 0-15.
- Suggestion generation: output a resume summary, core strengths, and improvement suggestions organized by category, priority, specific issue, and recommended solution.
Note that the scores and suggestions are generated by a large language model from the resume text. They are useful for first-pass feedback and revision direction, but should not replace HR validation of role requirements, factual experience, and project details.
Use Cases
- Candidates upload a PDF resume before applying to check overall score, completeness, and improvement suggestions.
- HR reviewers compare DOCX resumes during early screening using structural clarity and skill matching scores.
- Headhunters review TXT resumes before referrals to summarize core strengths, expression gaps, and suggestions.
- Job seekers upload an MD resume during interview prep to find weak project experience and optimization plans.
Best For
- Early-career candidates who want to check overall score, project experience gaps, and fixes before applying.
- HR reviewers who need quick comparisons of completeness, structural clarity, and skill matching across resumes.
- Headhunters who want to extract core strengths and expression gaps before recommending candidates.
- Technical candidates in interview prep who want prioritized suggestions for project experience descriptions.
