Problem It Solves
In academic writing, citation formatting is often the unglamorous blocker: author order, year, DOI, access dates, multi-author truncation, and Chinese/English sorting rules keep colliding with target journal requirements. Reference Manager Assistant is intended for formatting citation metadata that you already have, not for retrieving full texts or managing large libraries.
How It Works And Where To Stop
- Core capabilities: extracts authors, year, title, journal, volume, pages, and other metadata from unstructured notes, then builds in-text citations and reference lists for APA 6/7, GB/T 7714-2015, MLA 9, Chicago, and Harvard.
- Workflow: identifies source type and target format version, applies punctuation, italics, capitalization, and author-order rules, then checks missing fields and sorts the list.
- Boundary: it does not download full texts, verify that a source exists, or replace tools such as Zotero or EndNote. Keep batches under
20items and specify versions like “APA 7th edition.”
Missing values are marked as [DOI missing] or [publisher unknown] rather than invented. Before submission, review the result against the target journal’s Author Guidelines.
