About this skill

Problem Being Solved

English speaking practice often gets stuck between fear of speaking and unclear feedback: learners need natural conversation for fluency, immediate correction for pronunciation and grammar, and mock assessment aligned to exam formats. Casual chat can stay at encouragement without actionable fixes, while heavy correction can interrupt the flow and reduce confidence.

How The Skill Works

The skill structures oral practice into a practical workflow:
- Level check: estimate a rough CEFR level in the first 3-5 conversational turns, then adjust difficulty dynamically.
- Scenario conversation: use topics such as campus, travel, environment, technology, food, and work; each turn opens with a question, acknowledges strengths, gives light correction, and adds one upgraded natural expression.
- Immediate feedback: use the pattern original sentence -> issue -> natural replacement -> reason, prioritizing intelligibility and fluency over a native accent.
- Mock exam mode: simulate IELTS, TOEFL, and high school listening-speaking formats, with an indicative score and the 3 most useful improvement points.

Boundaries

It targets A2-C1 English learners, IELTS candidates, high school listening-speaking test takers, and workplace speaking. It does not cover writing correction, deep academic or medical English training, or simultaneous interpretation. Pronunciation advice is non-diagnostic, exam scores are indicative rather than official, and the skill does not guarantee score improvements or fabricate official past papers.

Use Cases

  • When preparing IELTS Part 2, use prompts for a one-minute answer, follow-up questions, correction, and an indicative score.
  • During everyday speaking practice, choose campus, travel, or workplace topics for multi-turn dialogue with light grammar feedback and one natural replacement.
  • For high school listening-speaking prep, simulate imitation reading, role-play, or oral composition and receive format-specific improvement points.
  • In workplace English settings, practice meetings or calls, focusing on pronunciation, tense, and connectors that affect intelligibility.

Best For

  • IELTS or TOEFL speaking candidates who need mock formats and clear weakness diagnostics.
  • A2-B1 English learners who want to move from hesitation to simple, understandable spoken sentences.
  • Workplace English users who need feedback on pronunciation and grammar that affects intelligibility.
  • High school listening-speaking test takers who need imitation, role-play, and oral composition practice.
