What It Solves

When drafting policy briefs, legal analyses, or academic articles, citations can fail in subtle ways: a clause may not exist, a regulation may have been amended, or a local policy may be applied to the wrong jurisdiction. legal-citation-verify processes docx, pdf, md, URLs, and pasted text, then validates cited laws, administrative regulations, departmental rules, local regulations, policy documents, and judicial interpretations for source, validity, clause accuracy, and applicability.

How It Works

The skill runs an extraction, routing, verification, and reporting pipeline:

• Extraction and grouping: identifies standard citations, abbreviations, informal references, and implicit references, then merges citations to the same statute and version to reduce duplicate searches.
• Retrieval and caching: uses pkulaw for metadata and clause text, with yuandian and web search as fallbacks; policy documents require priority verification from issuing authorities' official portals such as gov.cn.
• Six validation groups: baseline checks G1-G3 cover source traceability, metadata consistency, and validity/version; advanced checks G4-G6 assess legal coherence, applicability conditions, and citation quality.
• Reporting: returns statuses such as passed, questionable, invalid, or incorrect, with source-confidence notes.

For judicial interpretations, it first checks the underlying law, replacement interpretations, and clause linkage. For policy documents, it emphasizes official-source verification, jurisdiction, and effective date.

Boundaries

This is a citation verification workflow, not legal advice. It does not handle official document formatting or prose polishing. Baseline checks are best for hard errors, while advanced G4/G6 checks may produce confidence-based warnings rather than definitive conclusions. Local documents and very recent policy changes may still require manual review.
