Minimal Counterexample Academic Writing System

Problem

Papers, reports, and grant proposals often fail because the logic feels “not rigorous enough,” but edits drift into full rewrites or surface-level wording fixes. This skill targets logical-chain gaps: jumps between Claims, unsupported conclusions, unaddressed alternative explanations, and reviewer comments that never shrink into actionable fixes.

How It Works

It borrows software-style verification for academic writing:
- Anchor an Oracle, such as venue norms, strong papers, or review criteria;
- Identify a concrete Counterexample;
- Use Shrinking to reduce the issue to one sentence or one claim;
- Repair only that minimal counterexample, then run regression checks to prevent regressions.
It supports first-draft self-review, pre-submission review, reviewer response, and grant justification, treating writing as a stress-test loop rather than a final polish pass.

Boundary

It does not handle grammar, formatting, translation, statistical computation, or fact-checking. Inputs need enough context, such as a section, research question, or Thesis Statement; short fragments may require framing the research question first.
