About this skill

Problem It Addresses

Outbound teams often need to answer questions such as whether GDPR or CCPA applies to an app, which sectors are on Vietnam's investment negative list, or how to cite labor law provisions. This skill turns legal research into retrievable, citable material checks instead of relying on model memory for statutes.

How It Works

  • Check search_law first: if the MCP tool is unavailable, it prompts setup instead of substituting another answer path.
  • Select scope: use scope: domestic for PRC law and scope: international for foreign rules, treaties, cross-border investment, or international arbitration; mixed questions are searched separately.
  • Tune retrieval: top_k controls result count, while score_threshold controls relevance; precise statute lookups can use a higher threshold.
  • Grade sources: statutes and judicial interpretations can be cited, while cases and theoretical materials are treated as supporting references only.

Boundaries

It fits cross-border compliance, trade, investment, contract review, and regulatory questions. It is not for real-time news, case-specific litigation strategy, official translations, or administrative process lookups. It does not replace legal advice from a qualified attorney.

Use Cases

  • An outbound product team evaluates whether California's CCPA applies to an app developed in China for US users and needs scope and exemption clauses.
  • Legal counsel reviewing a Vietnam investment agreement checks the local investment negative list and outbound investment rules before drafting factory setup clauses.
  • A cross-border sales engineer confirms EU SaaS delivery requirements by searching GDPR obligations, data transfer constraints, and compliance materials.
  • A paralegal preparing labor contract review notes searches the PRC Labor Contract Law, probation clauses, and judicial interpretations for citable sources.

Best For

  • Legal counsel handling outbound compliance needs to compare cross-border regulatory requirements and cite legal sources.
  • Product or platform engineers shipping internationally need to verify privacy, data, investment, and market access constraints.
  • Cross-border legal assistants need to turn trade, investment, and contract drafting questions into searchable legal research tasks.
  • Corporate compliance analysts need to compare domestic and foreign rules and prepare citable internal compliance notes.
