About this skill

Problem

Creating or editing PPTX files is often not just about producing a valid document. The harder part is deliverable quality: leftover placeholders, generic color choices, repeated layouts, centered body text, low-contrast icons, and missing visual proof that slides actually render well. pptx turns these scattered steps into a concrete workflow.

How It Works and Limits

  • Read and analyze: extract presentation text with markitdown to understand titles, points, and order.
  • Template editing: follow editing.md to analyze the template, unpack slides, edit content, clean, and repack.
  • Create from scratch: use pptxgenjs when no reference deck is available.
  • Design constraints: require a visual element on each slide, and provide color, font, size, spacing, and anti-pattern guidance.
  • QA: render slides to images, inspect them, fix issues, and revalidate affected pages.

It fits office scenarios that need editable PPTX output. It is not a good fit for complex animations, precise brand systems, or fully automated commercial design.

Use Cases

  • Replace quarterly data into designated slides of a branded template, then repack as PPTX
  • Generate a meeting deck from scratch with pptxgenjs when no template is available
  • Extract text from an old PPTX, then restructure points into a new presentation outline
  • Render slides to images, inspect placeholders, contrast, and layout, then fix and revalidate

Best For

  • Operations or marketing staff who maintain branded templates and swap in new data each cycle
  • Project managers who need to turn meeting notes or reports into structured decks quickly
  • Engineers who generate slides with pptxgenjs but lack design review skills
  • Frontend or design engineers who must verify PPTX layout and visual consistency before delivery
