Problem

When writing a thesis, report, or research paper, references often suffer from weak evidence, incorrect DOI or volume/issue metadata, and citation numbers that do not match specific claims. Bulk citation insertion can hide these errors and introduce fabricated-looking sources. This skill separates reference discovery, verification, insertion planning, and document modification into reviewable steps.

How It Works

It uses the smallest required mode for the task:
- Discovery Mode: extracts keywords, key claims, and existing citations, then recommends databases and produces candidate references marked as pending verification.
- Verification Mode: checks source reliability, DOI, authors, journal, year, and other metadata; prioritizes Grade A/B and flags or replaces weaker items.
- Insertion Planning Mode: maps each reference to a specific claim and produces a concrete insertion plan.
- Modification Mode: modifies Markdown, LaTeX/BibTeX, Word, or Feishu documents only after explicit user confirmation.
For Chinese academic reports, it defaults to GB/T 7714. Long documents are processed chapter by chapter with a global reference registry to keep numbering consistent.

Scope and Caveats

Use this for academic writing, thesis polishing, reference cleanup, and citation consistency. It should not be used to fabricate citations, inflate journal ratios, or treat preprints, standards, datasets, blogs, or web pages as journal articles. If reliable sources are insufficient, the skill reports the gap and suggests relaxing constraints instead of inventing references.
