About this skill

Problem

When you need to assess whether a company's debt level is high or whether short-term liquidity could become a concern, a full balance sheet is too broad. This skill is for quick debt-risk screening and repayment-capacity checks, returning leverage, interest-bearing debt, liquidity, and cash-flow coverage metrics rather than line-by-line audit details.

Capabilities and Boundaries

Core outputs include tl_current, tl_yoy, tl_ind_avg, and tl_3y_trend for asset-liability ratio context; ibd_rate for interest-bearing debt; current_ratio, quick_ratio, and cash_ratio for short-term solvency; icr for interest coverage; cf_tcl for operating cash flow coverage of total liabilities; and annual series data. Use it by passing a symbol with empty args through the unified runner.

Compare metrics against tl_ind_avg before interpreting levels. Use a company-card skill for general overviews and a statements skill for full reports. Do not conclude "absolutely safe" or "bound to default" from the output alone.

Use Cases

  • During investment screening, judge a listed company's interest-bearing debt share and short-term repayment pressure before deep research.
  • When drafting credit-risk notes, compare asset-liability ratio changes, industry average, and interest coverage to explain leverage and buffers.
  • When benchmarking peers, compare current, quick, and cash ratios plus operating cash-flow coverage against the industry average.
  • During post-investment or post-loan review, use the 3-year debt-ratio trend and interest-bearing debt ratio to detect deteriorating debt structure.

Best For

  • Equity researchers who need to screen listed companies for debt risk before detailed coverage
  • Credit analysts preparing debt-diligence notes with solvency metrics and industry comparison
  • Portfolio managers monitoring investee leverage and liquidity changes during post-investment review
  • Strategy analysts building company-screening workflows with debt-safety indicators as early filters
