Toutiao Auto Publishing

Problem

• Manually operating a Toutiao account means switching between topic discovery, rewriting, image selection, upload panels, and publish status checks.
• Micro-posts require a judgment call on whether to attach images, articles rely on platform-recommended images, and Toutiao's custom editor can break naive automation.

How It Works

• It uses the OpenClaw browser tool with CDP against an already logged-in Chrome session, calling navigate, snapshot, act, and upload.
• It first selects topics from priority sources such as Toutiao's backend inspiration feed, The Paper, and 36Kr, then rewrites by format: micro-posts around 150 to 250 words, articles around 500 to 800 words.
• Image handling is split: micro-posts may include three relevant images if the AI judges visual support helps, while articles choose one image from the recommended set.
• Uploads follow a verified path: copy files to C:\tmp\openclaw\uploads\, wait for the panel to expand, call upload, click confirm, and verify editor state.
• After publishing, it checks the management page for review status and records title, tags, and timestamp.

Boundaries

• It fits short-form operations where the publishing strategy is already defined, but it is not a fully autonomous content strategy engine.
• It requires compatible Chrome and OpenClaw browser service prerequisites, and an existing login session; automation should stop and request manual login if a login page appears.
• Operators still need to verify originality, sensitive content, typos, image relevance, and publish frequency to avoid platform friction.
