Introduction¶
By default, DeepSeek Harness (DSH) restores the previous session window when it starts. If you want DSH to open directly into a blank session and display a fixed video as the background each time, you can use the dsh-pv-home plugin. It modifies the startup logic and injects scripts to set a specified video file as a looping splash page, and supports playback in screensaver mode.
Plugin Overview¶
- Name:
soh4c4759/dsh-pv-home - Author: SOH4C4759
- Category: Client
- License: MIT
This plugin customizes the splash page and screensaver features by taking over the viewport, clearing the session restore point, and adjusting the routing configuration, without modifying the DSH core source code.
Core Features¶
- Blank window by default and fullscreen playback: When opening DSH or refreshing the page, it restores a blank session by default and plays the specified video in fullscreen on loop.
- Quick return: Press Esc to return to the DSH interface. The landing view is the default window (blank session), not the previously restored conversation.
- PV-style volume control: Provides a PV-style volume button, supporting click-to-mute/unmute, and volume adjustment with the
M,↑,↓keys or the mouse wheel. - Title bar color following: During playback, the color of the title bar button at the top-right of the window follows the video’s color scheme.
- Screensaver mode playback: Together with the DSH sidebar lock button, it can enter screensaver mode when locked and play the video.
Installation and Configuration¶
The plugin requires you to download the source code yourself and install it via a local path.
- Clone or download the source code to a local directory, for example
F:/CodeProj/dsh-pv-home. - Install the plugin (assuming you use the desktop profile):
dsh plugin --profile desktop add link:F:/CodeProj/dsh-pv-home
- Prerequisite dependency: When installing with
link:, the local directory must containnode_modules/@deepseek-ai/schemastery. This is because the plugin statically imports this package, and thelink:installation method may cause path resolution issues.
Usage¶
The plugin itself does not include video files; you need to prepare them yourself.
- Prepare the video file: Place the video file at
assets/video/film.mp4in the plugin directory. If themoovatom in the video container is not at the beginning, browsers may need to download the entire file before playback can start. - Video asset notes:
- Character artwork: CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 (non-commercial).
- Music rights: Owned by Mili; no redistribution license is included.
- Keyboard controls:
Esc: Return to the DSH interface.M/↑/↓/ mouse wheel: Adjust volume.- Click the volume button: Mute/unmute.
- Locked-screen playback: Click the lock button in the DSH sidebar to trigger screensaver mode and play the video. Note: the Windows lock screen itself only supports static images; the video can only be played in screensaver mode.
Conclusion¶
This plugin implements custom splash page and screensaver features by modifying localStorage and injecting scripts, without changing the DSH core source code. It is suitable for users who want to add a personalized visual experience to their working environment.
