DeepSeek Harness’s theme system is fundamentally data-driven. The official “Settings → General → Appearance” option uses hardcoded constants and cannot directly load third-party skins. The dsh-theme-gallery plugin solves this problem by providing a set of JSON skins and cards. It allows users to change full-screen skins, sidebar landscapes, and color palettes without modifying code.
Core Capabilities¶
This plugin provides the following features:
- JSON-driven skins: Supports full-screen skins and sidebar landscapes.
- Palettes and cards: 15-palette color selector, pet pendant cards (7 registered pets), mood greeting cards (scrolling greetings in the title bar), and menu collapse card.
- Built-in skins: Provides 12 skins (including replicas and original designs), and allows adding skins without code changes.
Entry and Usage¶
The plugin entry is located below the [Plugins] icon in the sidebar, not in the official “General → Appearance” settings.
- Enable and select: After installing the plugin, click the [Plugins] icon in the sidebar, open the theme gallery page, and click a specific skin to apply it.
- Hybrid mode: After clicking a skin, select “Light” or “Dark” to retain the sidebar assets while switching the palette back to the official appearance.
- Custom skins: Add JSON files under
lib/themes/in the project directory, then runnpm run embed-themesto contribute skins.
Notes¶
- Entry location: Make sure to enter from below the [Plugins] icon in the sidebar; this plugin is not included in the official settings.
- Card count: Built-in appearance cards (Light/Dark), pet pendant cards, mood greeting cards, and menu collapse cards are not counted in the 12-skin total.
- Dark skin logic: Some dark skins (such as “Big Whale Girl” and “Jade Phoenix Sword”) have dark-background logic for specific components (such as planning cards, deliverables, etc.). You need to set “Settings → General → Appearance” to Dark to achieve the best effect.
