Preface

The design philosophy of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is “everything is a plugin.” When developing or deploying agents locally, managing MCP (Model Context Protocol) server configurations often requires manually editing YAML files or restarting services, which increases debugging costs. The dsh-mcp-servers plugin solves this problem by providing a settings page in the DSH web interface, allowing users to manage configurations through a JSON editor and automatically mounting active mcp-client instances.

What Is This

railgun52/dsh-mcp-servers is a configuration-page plugin in the client category. It overrides the profile-config namespace through a JSON editor to store the server list and mounts active mcp-client instances read from that list. The plugin is maintained by railgun52, has 1 Star, and is licensed under the MIT License.

Core Features

Settings Page

A top-level section named “MCP Servers” is added to the settings in the web interface. This section provides a card list for adding, editing, and removing servers.

JSON Editor

Users can directly edit the entire servers array in a text box. By clicking “Add Server,” the configuration can be completed quickly.

Real-Time Bridging

The plugin mounts one mcp-client instance in the host for each enabled server. After each settings edit, the bridge layer automatically re-synchronizes (re-sync), so changes take effect without remounting the plugin.

Transport Protocol and Configuration

Two transport types are supported: stdio and streamable-http. Each server configuration contains the following fields:

  • name: server name
  • command: start command
  • args: command arguments
  • env: environment variables
  • transport: transport type
  • url: HTTP address (when the transport type is streamable-http)
  • enabled: whether the server is enabled

Data Persistence

Configuration values are persisted in the plugin configuration of the currently active Profile.

Installation and Enabling

Installing this plugin requires the npm package. Run the following command in the terminal:

dsh plugin --profile web add @railgun52/dsh-mcp-servers@latest

After the command completes, you must restart dsh web to load the new plugin.

Typical Usage

  1. After restarting dsh web, open the web interface and navigate to “Settings” -> “MCP Servers.”
  2. On this page, you can directly edit JSON to manage the server list.
  3. If you are developing in link mode, run pnpm build and refresh the browser page after modifying the code. There is no need to rerun the installation command.

Applicable Scenarios and Notes

  • Version Requirement: This plugin depends on @deepseek-ai/dsh >= 0.1.7-rc.1.
  • Browser Build: Although the plugin ships with lib/ prebuilt files, building the browser package requires the DeepSeek Harness repository to be available (take this into account when developing from source).
  • Configuration Permissions: The plugin runs with the permissions of the current DSH process. Ensure the source code is secure and the license meets your requirements.

Short Ending

With this plugin, you can configure and test MCP servers instantly in the browser without leaving the web interface. For more information and the source code, visit the project homepage.
