Introduction

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is a web client based on a plugin architecture. When developing with the DeepSeek API, distinguishing between peak hours (higher rates) and off-peak hours (valley pricing) can help control costs. The dsh-client-ui-peak-valley plugin directly displays the current API pricing status on the left side of the model selection button in the conversation window, eliminating the need to manually check the official pricing table.

Core Features

This plugin focuses on providing real-time pricing status feedback at the UI layer.

  1. Status Visualization: Automatically determines the current time period based on Beijing time. A green square represents valley pricing (off-peak hours), while an orange square represents peak pricing (peak hours).
  2. Automatic Refreshing: Checks the time status automatically every 30 seconds. Time-period transitions occur automatically without manual intervention.
  3. Conditional Display: The status is displayed only when the model ID selected in the current session contains deepseek (case-insensitive).
  4. Compatibility: Supports official models (such as deepseek-official) and relay gateway models (such as opencode-go and commandcode). It also automatically adapts to both light and dark themes.

Install and Enable

This plugin is a Bundle. The registration line (id: peak-valley) is already included in the cordis.patch.yml file inside the package, so there is no need to manually add an insertion line to the host configuration file.

Run the following command in the target profile directory (for example, ~/.dsh/profiles/desktop/) to install it:

dshpm add file:./plugins/dsh-client-ui-peak-valley --profile desktop

After installation, you must restart the dsh process for the changes to take effect. Enable or disable the plugin in the “Installed” section of the DSH plugins page.

Usage Examples

The plugin determines whether to display the status based on substring matching of the model ID.

Status displayed:
- deepseek-chat
- deepseek/reasoner
- deepseek/deepseek-v4.1-flash

Status not displayed:
- ds-v3 (does not contain deepseek in the model ID)
- minimax-m3 (not a DeepSeek model)

Notes

  1. Timezone Dependency: The plugin calculates the time period based on the Asia/Shanghai timezone and does not rely on the browser’s local timezone setting.
  2. Rendering Position: The UI is registered at the conversation.input.right slot, located on the left side of the model selection button, and does not replace the native UI.
  3. Installation Method: Installation and management depend on the dshpm command. Because it is a Bundle, the host does not need to manually maintain the insertion line in cordis.patch.yml.
  4. Restart Requirement: You must restart the DSH application after installation or uninstallation.

Conclusion

By displaying real-time API pricing status in the development environment, dsh-client-ui-peak-valley helps developers choose appropriate API invocation time periods. Its core value lies in turning tedious pricing lookups into visual UI feedback.
