Introduction¶
In the DSH development workflow, session briefs usually contain task progress and deliverable information, but by default this information is scattered and hard to view in one place. The dsh-brief-sidebar plugin solves this issue. As a consumer of dsh-better-sidebar, it renders the brief content as a “Summary” tab in the right sidebar and masks the official todo panel, making the summary view the only visible surface for task progress.
Core Features¶
- Right sidebar Summary tab: Renders the session brief as a summary tab inside the right sidebar.
- Dual-list display:
- Progress board: Shows the task progress projected fromtodos, including three status states and summaries.
- Deliverables list: Shows the deliverables projected fromdshSummaryDeliverablesin real time, listing successfully written files.codeplanplanning deliverables display a “Planning” label. - Masking the official panel: When
better-sidebaris active, the plugin competes through registration priority to mask the officialtodopanel at the top ofcomposer-band. - Read-only mode: Provides display only; it does not support editing, write-back, or multi-session aggregation.
Installation¶
Before installation, make sure your DSH version is on the 0.2.0 line (engines.dsh >=0.2.0-rc.1).
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-brief-sidebar@dsh-0.2.0
After installation, refresh the page for the changes to take effect.
Usage¶
- After installation is complete, a “Summary” tab appears in the right sidebar.
- In the “Summary” tab, view the current session’s task progress and deliverables list.
- Click a file path in the deliverables list to open the corresponding resource in the sidebar via
ctx.sidebarRight.openResource.
Design Highlights¶
- Data pipeline: The plugin does not depend on the framework’s
useProjection. Instead, it directly usesctx.get('sessions')to obtain theSessionBindingandProjectionsFace, then parsestodosanddshSummaryDeliverablesrespectively. - Masking logic: Using the SlotCore registration mechanism, the plugin registers the
id: 'todo'entry withpriority: -1, giving it higher precedence than the official defaultorder: 0. This allows masking to take effect whenbetter-sidebaris active. - Deliverables folding: The folding rule for the deliverables list matches the official
turn-deliverablesbehavior. Only files successfully written (write/edit/str_replace_editor) are counted, duplicates are removed, and failed items are ignored. - Click to open: After clicking a deliverable path, the plugin uses the same Sidebar preview channel as the conversation flow (
fileAddressFor), supporting both relative and absolute paths.
Limitations and Notes¶
- Read-only limitation: The plugin performs no editing or write-back operations, and it does not copy the third-party rendering layer, ensuring a single data flow.
- Compatibility: Only the DSH 0.2.0 line is supported. On the 0.1.x line, if
better-sidebaris not active, the plugin remains inert (it does not render the tab and does not throw errors). - Memory section: The third section of the brief, “Memory Recall,” currently only has a reserved layout slot. It is still planned and is not rendered in this release.
Summary¶
dsh-brief-sidebar provides a clear, read-only overview view for DSH sessions. By consolidating the task board and deliverables list in the right sidebar, developers can more intuitively track session progress and deliverables without switching between the official panel and the brief.
