In the development of DeepSeek Harness (DSH), models often need to call plugin_manager list_bundles to retrieve the bundle list for the current profile. However, this action returns the complete declaration rows for each bundle by default, resulting in a huge amount of data. In practice, the declaration rows for @deepseek-ai/dsh-base in a profile can reach 94 entries. This causes models to consume large amounts of tokens in context, even though they often only need to know the bundle names and statuses.

deadbushxw/dsh-plugin-query-enhance is a DSH Host-side plugin designed to address this issue. It does not change the underlying logic; instead, it uses two mechanisms: “projection” and a “new tool,” to reduce the cost for models calling bundle query tools.

Core Features

The plugin mainly provides two complementary capabilities:

  1. Slimmed responses: list_bundles and list_plugins remain available, but each returned record contains only summary information (such as name, version, and enabled), removing large fields like rows and description. Projection occurs before internal Host serialization, meaning these bytes are never generated at all, rather than generated and then ignored.
  2. Parameterized query tool: A new plugin_query tool is added, supporting filtering by conditions such as name, match, and enabled. Models can precisely query “which bundle declares a specific module” without pulling out all rows from all bundles.

Neither mechanism modifies @deepseek-ai/dsh-plugin-manager. The Web sidebar continues to read the service directly, and uninstalling the plugin restores the original behavior.

Installation and Activation

Installing the plugin is equivalent to installing a bundle. DSH writes the package into the current profile, registers a Loader row, and hot-applies the change. A DSH restart is required after installation.

Configuration options live in the bundle’s own cordis.patch.yml and are validated by the Config schema exported by the package. There is no extra configuration file or settings page.

Typical Usage

After installation, you can use the following commands:

plugin_manager list_bundles
plugin_manager list_plugins
plugin_query match="@deepseek-ai/dsh-plugin-manager"
plugin_query name="@deepseek-ai/dsh-base"

Applicable Scenarios and Notes

This is suitable for DSH/Agent developers who need to frequently query bundle statuses or dependencies.

  • Dependency: The plugin depends on @deepseek-ai/schemastery. If installing from a local directory, run npm install in the cloned directory; installation via github: does not require this step.
  • Permissions: The plugin runs with the permissions of the current DSH process. It is recommended to review the source code and license before installation.
  • How it takes effect: After changing configuration or installing the plugin, you must restart DSH to reload the modules.

Summary

This plugin uses projection and tool enhancement to resolve the data overload caused by list actions, enabling models to use the bundle management interface more efficiently.
