DSH Desktop is a locally running client application. Content operations often involve topic selection, influencer collaborations, campaign screening, and multi-platform data tracking. The dsh-media-workbench plugin aims to consolidate these fragmented operations and data into a single workbench, providing a unified view for management and analysis.
Plugin Positioning¶
cinderzhan/dsh-media-workbench is a DSH Desktop plugin maintained by the developer cinderzhan and is licensed under the MIT License. It is not the main Desktop installer, but a plugin package for content operations. Its core value lies in managing official account topic selection, influencer collaborations, marketing calendars, content data, and daily outcomes through a single interface, while supporting immediate interactive data analysis through charts.
Core Features¶
The plugin mainly includes the following capabilities:
- Operations Management: Supports managing official account topic selection, influencer collaborations, campaigns, and marketing calendars, and allows viewing daily operational outcomes.
- Data Visualization and Monitoring: Charts support instant hover, click, and keyboard value tooltips. Data monitoring provides three views: multi-content comparison, historical trends, and multi-platform comparison. Multiple charts can be displayed in the same panel, and each chart can be independently configured (content, platform, metric, node, and chart type).
- Influencer Data Import: Supports bulk import of influencer data via CSV or TSV files, with compatibility for UTF-8, UTF-16 with BOM, and GB18030 encodings.
- Window Interaction: The four windows support swapping positions, resizing, collapsing, and restoring. Double-clicking any window title bar expands it to the entire workbench area; double-clicking again or clicking the restore button restores it.
- North Star Metrics: By default, displays download count, new GitHub Stars, group join count, and lead count. Legend items can be clicked to hide or show specific metrics.
Installation and Enablement¶
Installing this plugin requires downloading the Release package from the command line, then having the Agent install it.
- Download the Release installation package:
gh release download v0.12.6 --repo cinderzhan/dsh-media-workbench --pattern 'dsh-media-workbench.tgz'
- Create the installation directory and extract it:
mkdir dsh-media-workbench-install
tar -xzf dsh-media-workbench.tgz -C dsh-media-workbench-install --strip-components=1
- Install the plugin: In DSH Desktop, instruct the Agent to install and enable the extracted directory above through the plugin management process, providing its absolute path.
Typical Usage¶
- Local Development: To preview locally, first install Node.js 22 or later, then run
npm installandnpm run dev:media. - Plugin Packaging: Use the
npm run pack:plugincommand to generate the installation package; the file is located in thereleases/directory. - Chart Operations: In the data monitoring panel, you can select multiple posting records to switch to a line chart or bar chart for comparison; in North Star Metrics, clicking a legend item hides or shows the corresponding data item.
Applicable Scenarios and Considerations¶
This plugin is suitable for users who need to manage content operations schedules and data performance over the long term.
When deploying and using it, keep the following facts in mind:
- Operating Mechanism: This is a Workbench plugin package, not the Desktop installer. Data refreshes every 5 minutes by default; for 24h and 72h nodes, the system checks once per minute. This means the computer must remain awake and the Desktop process must be running, otherwise the checks will be interrupted.
- Data Synchronization and Delays: The system automatically retains 24h / 72h data for Bilibili and Xiaohongshu metrics. If a data collection node is missed, it will be marked as delayed, and historical data will not be automatically restored.
- Platform Differences: Douyin and WeChat platforms currently still require manual data backfilling.
- Compatibility and Updates: After upgrading the plugin, you must restart Desktop for the changes to take effect. If querying npm from the repair page returns 404, it indicates that the plugin is not published on npm and should be obtained from GitHub.
- Data Security: The release package does not contain business records, account login status, or contact data. Save the current input and restart Desktop for changes to take effect.
Summary¶
dsh-media-workbench provides a closed-loop toolset from topic planning to data analysis. Through a unified data monitoring view and multi-chart dashboard, it reduces the overhead for operators of switching between windows to check data. Before using it, developers should confirm its runtime dependencies (computer awake, Desktop running) and configure data collection and display according to their needs.
