Introduction¶
DeepSeek’s pricing policy varies across different time periods. In a Harness (DSH) environment, it is difficult to confirm in real time whether the current period is peak or off-peak without switching to the official pricing page. The dsh-peak-indicator plugin addresses this information gap by displaying a status dot in the sidebar brand area.
Plugin Overview¶
This plugin is maintained by adesbusy and is licensed under MIT. It is a display-only tool used to indicate whether DeepSeek is currently in peak or off-peak pricing status. Its core value is that you can confirm the billing mode at a glance without leaving the current interface.
Core Features¶
-
Status Indicator
Display a dot next to the brand wordmark. Amber indicates peak, and green indicates off-peak. The dot is placed to the left of the brand wordmark, maintaining an 8px visual gap from the wordmark. -
Hover Details
Hovering over the dot (or focusing it with the keyboard) brings up a card. The card includes the currently effective rate, the next transition time (local time and UTC time), a countdown, and the currently effective weekly rule. Countdown text supports Hebrew expressions (e.g., “בעוד שעתיים ו־30 דקות”). -
Rule Calculation
The plugin has built-in calculation logic that strictly follows the rules on DeepSeek’s official pricing page, including UTC time zones, weekdays, and exclusion of Chinese public holidays. -
Self-Repair
If the plugin is removed due to React re-rendering, it automatically reinserts itself viaMutationObserver, ensuring the status remains correct after page refreshes.
Installation and Enablement¶
You can complete deployment by using the official installation command. The DSH plugin manager automatically handles writing the configuration.
dsh plugin add github:adesbusy/dsh-peak-indicator
Once installation is complete, you must refresh the current page for it to take effect.
Rule Notes¶
According to DeepSeek’s official pricing page, the plugin defines peak hours as 01:00–04:00 and 06:00–10:00 UTC, Monday through Friday only. All other times (including weekends and holidays) are off-peak.
Note the timezone: the rule is calculated based on UTC time, not the machine’s local time. For example, in Israel (UTC+3 daylight saving time), peak hours correspond to local time 04:00–07:00 and 09:00–13:00. The dialog displays both local time and UTC time for easy verification.
Technical Implementation and Considerations¶
-
Holiday Handling
2027 Chinese public holiday data has not been updated yet, so the plugin falls back to the “weekday rule.” This means that during 2027 holiday weeks, the plugin still calculates them as weekdays (displayed as peak) instead of displaying them as off-peak. This is a “safer” error-handling approach chosen to maintain consistency. -
Slot Mechanism
This is not a slot registration; it adds margin to the existing layout. It is inserted as the first child element of the brand wordmark flex container and adds a 2px margin, keeping visual spacing consistent with other sidebar elements. -
Dependency Requirement
DeepSeek Harness version>=0.1.0-rc.6is required.
Conclusion¶
dsh-peak-indicator provides developers with an intuitive reference for pricing status, avoiding unnecessary charges from unintentionally entering peak hours. Links to the source code and plugin catalog are as follows:
