Introduction

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) adopts an “everything is a plugin” architectural philosophy. For desktop users, the default startup flow may lack visual feedback. The dsh-codefall plugin introduces a classic digital rain visual to provide DSH clients with a differentiated startup experience and a green semantic theme.

Plugin Overview

dsh-codefall is maintained by 4444Hao. It adds a The Matrix-style digital waterfall boot animation to the DeepSeek Harness client, along with a green semantic theme. The plugin has no runtime dependencies; React and Cordis support are provided by the host environment.

Core Features

  • Digital rain boot animation: Simulates a The Matrix-style green digital waterfall effect.
  • Green semantic theme: Provides a green interface theme consistent with the digital rain aesthetic.
  • Light/dark mode: Supports dark mode (green raindrops) and light mode (white background with dark green, also called “Ink Rain”).
  • Matrix light-gate interaction: After the animation ends, a slender green rectangular light gate appears in the center of the screen and expands left and right.
  • Zero dependencies: The plugin itself includes no runtime dependencies.

Installation and Enablement

When installing on the desktop, use the following command:

dsh plugin --profile desktop add dsh-codefall

When installing via the Web interface, specify the profile:

dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-codefall

After installation, do not close the progress dialog. Click “Enable Now” and fully restart the application. After the restart, the plugin will take effect at application startup.

Usage Notes

In the desktop settings, find the “codefall boot animation” configuration item to adjust parameters such as playback timing, raindrop density, and speed. By default, the digital rain plays only at application startup and continues until the user interacts via mouse movement, click, wheel, or key press, after which the light gate expands.

To uninstall the plugin, use the following command:

dsh plugin --profile desktop remove dsh-codefall

Note: The theme layer will be removed along with the plugin.

Notes

  1. Environment requirements: Harness 0.2.0-rc.2 or later is required.
  2. Dependency versions: The host environment must provide React 18.2.0 and @deepseek-ai/cordis 4.0.1.
  3. Restart requirement: After installing or updating the plugin, the application must be fully restarted to take effect. Subsequent parameter changes in Settings do not require another restart.
  4. Platform verification: Real-device verification has not yet been performed on macOS and Linux; the functionality is mainly designed for the Windows desktop.
