Introduction

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) injects the skill catalog into every model request. When the number of skills exceeds a few dozen, this causes significant token overhead per turn (for example, 1,000 skills are about 150k characters per turn). This plugin provides a third option: skills remain in the library, and the Agent retrieves and loads them on demand, shifting the cost from “fixed per turn” to “pay only when used”.

Core Features

The plugin adds three tools to the Host plugin, each addressing a different stage of skill discovery and loading:

  • skill_search: Queries the skill index (metadata) without reading the skill body. Returns the name, repository path, copy count, and so on.
  • skill_load: Loads the body of the selected skill and injects it into the context.
  • skill_ref: Reads a specific reference or script file separately when needed.

Installation

Use the following command to install the plugin:

dsh plugin --profile web add github:ZiYuan258/dsh-skill-router

After installation, restart DSH and confirm that the three tools are available in the tool list.

Typical Usage

The plugin includes a starter skill library (5 skills), and skill_search is immediately available after restarting DSH.

Search for skills:

skill_search "debug"

Example response:

debug-with-evidence

Library location:
Place the library in the workspace root directory and name it .skill-src. The plugin searches upward from the working directory for up to 8 levels.

Identification flag:
When the response includes the starterLibrary: true flag, it means you are reading the plugin’s built-in starter library rather than your own library.

Notes

  • Verify the owner: There are multiple repositories with the same name on GitHub; before installing, ensure the owner is ZiYuan258.
  • No automatic injection: The plugin does not automatically load or inject skill content, and it does not automatically suggest candidates by default.
  • Not published to the registry: The plugin is intended for local or offline installation only.
  • Starter skill isolation: The built-in starter skills are not forced into the resident skill directory.
