Introduction

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is a framework that supports extending model providers through plugins. Tencent CodeBuddy Open Platform provides an OpenAI-compatible API gateway, but has not yet been integrated into DSH. dsh-codebuddy is an unofficial plugin designed to connect CodeBuddy models to DSH. It does not modify any DSH source code; instead, it exists as a standard plugin.

Plugin Overview

This is a standard DSH plugin (including package.json, cordis.patch.yml, a host entry point, and a settings page). It directly connects to the official gateway using your own API key, and configuration is completed via a graphical interface. The plugin securely stores the key in DSH’s credential store, rather than writing it to a configuration file.

Prerequisites

Before use, ensure the following environment requirements are met:

Item Requirement
DeepSeek Harness >= 0.1.7-rc.2 or >= 0.2.0-rc.1 < 3.0.0-0
Node.js ^22.19.0 or >= 24.0.0
Account Tencent CodeBuddy Open Platform account and API key (must start with sk- or ck-)

Installation

Pay attention to dependency resolution paths during installation. Because the plugin statically imports @deepseek-ai/dsh-llm at the top level, and that package only exists in the node_modules tree of the DSH profile, using link: installation is not recommended, as it will result in ERR_MODULE_NOT_FOUND.

  1. Place this repository in a fixed location, for example E:\WorkBuddy\dsh-codebuddy.
  2. Add the dependency to the DSH profile’s package.json:
   "dsh-codebuddy": "file:E:/WorkBuddy/dsh-codebuddy"

Also add it to the dsh.profile.bundles list.
3. Then have the profile install dependencies.
4. Restart DSH.

Method B: Manual copy

Copy the plugin’s lib/, cordis.patch.yml, and package.json into <DSH profile directory>/node_modules/dsh-codebuddy/, then restart DSH.

Configuration and Usage

After restarting DSH, go to Settings → CodeBuddy to configure it.

  1. Enter the key: Enter your Key in the “API Key” field, and click Save Key.
  2. Test the connection: Click Test Connection to confirm the key is valid.
  3. Fetch models: Click Fetch Models. The plugin sends a probe request to the gateway to list available models (note: this probe generates real billed requests).
  4. Select a model: In Settings → Models, select CodeBuddy (unofficial) as the provider, then choose a model from the list.

Endpoint restriction: The endpoint address on the settings page is read-only and cannot be changed. To change it, modify the configuration or the environment variable CODEBUDDY_BASE_URL.

Data and Privacy

  • API Key: The API key is sent only as an Authorization: Bearer header to https://copilot.tencent.com/v2 and does not pass through the author’s servers.
  • Conversation content: Prompts, code, and all other content are uploaded to the Tencent gateway.
  • Storage location: The key is stored in the DSH credential store (~/.dsh/.credentials.yaml) and is not written to a configuration file.
  • Telemetry: No statistics are reported.

Notes

  • Unofficial: This plugin is not affiliated with Tencent Holdings Limited or its associated companies.
  • Probe cost: Clicking “Fetch Models” sends requests that are subject to billing; please proceed with caution.
  • Model persistence: Models discovered by probing are effective only in the current session. After restarting DSH, the list reverts to the built-in manifest and must be probed again.
  • Metadata: The metadata in the built-in model manifest is statically declared and may be outdated.

Brief Conclusion

dsh-codebuddy provides DSH users with a way to use Tencent CodeBuddy models through a plugin-based solution that requires zero source-code patches. For more information or to obtain the source code, visit the plugin directory or GitHub repository.
