Introduction

In the DSH ecosystem, agent development often relies on console logs or implicit state to confirm task progress. dsh-task-capsule is a client plugin designed to pin the state of “what task is running and whether it has finished” to the Web UI. Maintained by wzn16, it extracts the most commonly used features from dsh-dock, focusing on task tracking and notifications, without duplicating token statistics.

Core Features

The plugin provides two main components:

  • Task Capsule: Persists in the session header. Uses color to distinguish states: running, awaiting confirmation, finished, and error. Clicking the capsule jumps to the session; when multiple tasks exist, a dropdown list is displayed.
  • Task Notification Card: When a task finishes, errors, or awaits confirmation, an in-page notification card pops up. The card includes a jump button. Supports WebAudio alert sounds (without audio files) and optional system notifications.

Installation and Activation

Installation requires adding the plugin as a local link to the profile dependencies.

# 1. Clone the repository to any local location
git clone https://github.com/wzn16/dsh-task-capsule.git
cd dsh-task-capsule

# 2. Install runtime dependencies (only @deepseek-ai/schemastery)
pnpm install

# 3. Add the local link to profile dependencies (replace the path with your own clone location)
cd ~/Library/Application\ Support/dsh-desktop/harness/profiles/web
pnpm add "link:/path/to/dsh-task-capsule"

# 4. Restart DSH Desktop (refreshing the browser is not enough)

Configuration and Usage

Adjust notification behavior in the plugin settings area. Turning on the “System Notifications” switch triggers a system authorization prompt (denying it does not affect in-page notification cards).

  • Test notification: When not authorized, clicking “Request Authorization and Test” opens a system authorization prompt; after allowing it, a test notification is sent automatically. When already authorized, clicking “Send Test Notification” directly verifies the notification path.
  • Configuration options: Include completion notifications, error notifications, awaiting-confirmation notifications, display duration (default 8000 ms; 0 means remaining until manually closed), system notifications, also send system notifications when in the foreground, and alert sound (WebAudio-synthesized sound).

Notes

  • Token statistics are left to the DSH built-in session statistics bar and are not duplicated.
  • Alert sounds use WebAudio synthesis.
  • System notification differences: The tag deduplication provided by Electron only takes effect on Windows/Linux; on macOS, each notification is displayed independently.
  • Also sending system notifications when in the foreground is disabled by default.
  • Installation requires adding the plugin as a local link to the profile dependencies.

Summary

This plugin is derived from dsh-dock with its scope streamlined, focusing on task status visualization and notifications. It is suitable for developers who need to clearly track task progress across multiple sessions.
