Introduction¶
DeepSeek Harness (DSH) provides pluggable extension capabilities. In daily use, prompts typed casually in the input field often lack context and constraints, and sending them directly to the model may produce off-target answers.
feiwell/dsh-enhance-prompt is a DSH plugin that adds an enhancement button on the right side of the input field. When clicked, the plugin rewrites the current prompt into a clearer and more specific version and replaces the input field content. If you are not satisfied with the result, click again to restore the original text.
Core Features¶
The plugin mainly provides the following capabilities:
1. One-click enhancement: Adds a button on the right side of the input field; clicking it rewrites the prompt.
2. Three modes: Provides “Daily Office”, “Code Development”, and “Design & Creativity” modes for different use cases.
3. Command support: Registers the /enhance command to invoke the enhancement feature from the command line.
4. API call: Provides the POST /api/enhance-prompt endpoint, accepting input and mode parameters.
5. Strict constraints: Uses the default model with fixed temperature: 0.2 and maxTokens: 800.
Installation and Enablement¶
Run the following command in the terminal to complete the installation:
dsh plugin --profile web add feiwell/dsh-enhance-prompt
After installation, restart DeepSeek Harness. The plugin includes cordis.patch.yml, and the installation automatically writes the configuration into the web profile, so no manual modification is required. The environment requires Node.js version 22.19.0 or higher.
Typical Usage¶
After installation and restart, two controls appear on the right side of the input field: a mode menu and an enhancement button.
-
Enhance with the button
- Type a prompt into the input field.
- Click the enhancement button on the right; the button state changes to “Enhancing…”.
- After rewriting, the result directly replaces the text in the input field, and the button changes to “Restore Original”.
- Click “Restore Original” to return to the initial input content.
-
Enhance with the command
- Type
/enhance Help me write a login page. - The command returns the enhanced prompt text, but does not automatically modify the input field content.
- Type
-
Switch modes
- Click the mode menu to switch among “Daily Office”, “Code Development”, and “Design & Creativity”.
- The menu pops up upward.
Technical Details and Notes¶
- Input language following: The plugin strictly follows the input language (for example, Chinese in, Chinese out) and does not perform translation.
- Enhancement scope: The plugin only enhances the prompt itself. It does not answer the user’s question, nor does it inject the main conversation template into the request.
- Timeout and error handling:
- The rewrite request waits for at most 30 seconds. If it times out, the original prompt is not overwritten.
- If the model errors out or the request fails, the prompt is not overwritten by a partial result.
- State control:
- While a message is being sent or the model is generating output, the button is disabled.
- If the input field is empty and you click enhancement, you will be prompted: “Enter content first, then enhance the prompt.”
- Implementation logic:
- The rewrite request uses the default model selected in the current session.
- It uses the lowest reasoning level to save time.
- The button is registered in the
conversation.input.rightslot and does not modify underlying UI library files.
Summary¶
feiwell/dsh-enhance-prompt aims to address unstable prompt quality. Through button interaction and mode categorization, it helps developers generate high-quality prompts more efficiently. The plugin is open source on GitHub; you can review the source code as needed.
