DeepSeek Harness (DSH) uses a plugin-based architecture. When orchestrating multi-agent workflows, it is often necessary to explicitly signal “ready” in the conversation so that the system can take over automatic orchestration. The dsh-ultracode plugin, developed by Dessera, adds three levels—off, high, and ultra—to the DSH composer. By injecting an authorization banner before user messages, it activates an automatic multi-agent orchestration mode in the conversation.
Core Features¶
The plugin provides three levels to control the armed state of a conversation:
- off mode: Injects nothing, keeping the conversation in DSH’s default runtime state. The next turn after re-enabling displays a one-line notice.
- high / ultra modes: Arm the conversation and activate workflow tools. Each turn while a mode is enabled includes an authorization banner, informing the model that the turn has been authorized for multi-agent orchestration.
- Instruction presentation: After a level is turned on, the first turn of that level includes the full instruction block; subsequent turns include only a one-line reminder. If disabled and then re-enabled, the instruction block appears again.
- Output control: When the conversation is in an armed state, the injected text instructs the model to keep output concise when writing
agent()prompts and to return materials as files rather than displaying them at length in the reply. The configuration itemconciseSubagentOutputcontrols this rule and is enabled by default. - Reasoning protection: The plugin only changes banner and instruction injection; it does not modify the model’s reasoning effort.
Installation and Enabling¶
Install from npm:
dsh plugin --profile web add @dessera/dsh-ultracode
Replace web with the name of the profile you are using.
If pnpm warns that build scripts are being ignored, add the exact key it mentions under allowBuilds in the profile’s pnpm-workspace.yaml, then run the command above again.
Usage¶
The plugin provides the following commands:
/ultracode: Increase the current level./ultracode status: Print the current level and the visibility of workflow tools in the conversation.
Environment Requirements and Notes¶
- Node.js: Requires Node.js 22.19 or later (22.x series), or Node.js 24 or newer.
- Package manager: Requires pnpm.
- Safety notice: The plugin runs with the permissions of the current DSH process. Before installing, it is recommended to review the source code and license information to ensure it fits your use case.
dsh-ultracode uses this explicit level control to make multi-agent orchestration controllable and efficient in conversations. For more details, see the SkillHub ecosystem directory or the GitHub repository.
